This article reminded me, that I switched to Wayland out of curiosity about half a year ago.
I just forgot about it, everything seems to work.
I use an AMD graphics card though, I have no idea how well it works with Nvidia.

Optimization costs the developer/publisher money.
Expensive hardware to mitigate the bad optimization costs the money of someone else.
But yeah, the Deck could need more power in the near future.

Quoting: EhvisI think the thumbstick is something you must not use. I see 4 Buttons per finger (without the thumb) which would give you 16 Buttons wihout moving your thumb. So that should be enough for the most games I think.Quoting: einherjarThat is a weird looking device. Don't think you'd want a "rage quit" scenario near it. Not for me though. I dislike controllers because my left hand thumb dexterity is not exactly great. So a device that still focuses on that is not going to increase my comfort.Quoting: JarmerWow, this looks AMAZING. I am very interested in purchasing it, BUT like @scaine I am not sure I could really get used to it with such a small amount of buttons. .....Maybe the Azeron is interesting for you then: https://www.azeron.eu/ [External Link]
It has much more buttons and I am thinking about buying one for quite some time.

Tried Fedora in a VM with Gnome.
Gnome is really really poor if you are used to KDE and Windows GUI.
But if you only want to start one program and work with it, it is enough.

And that is the experience, the Deck has to deliver, if it wants to be a device for the average gamer.

Quoting: poiuzSorry, but that's not "working same-day". There are just too much issues to workaround. Makes you wonder what went wrong since it was a long time in early access. But maybe it gets better with the actual release in september.This. Working means to the majority of people: It just works and I do not have to care, just hit play.
...

Much more important than the number of total games "playable" are other things IMHO:
* Games that are verified stay reliably verified
* It is clear to the customers, which games run and again, the customers can trust that "verified thing"
* It gets well known and is easy buyable
* No tinkering needed to have a great gaming experience
* Tinkering and playing around with the Deck is possible (but NOT needed)
Then it can have a significant success.
Actually it is a niche product and most "normal" people do not even know about it and therefor buy a switch.

Quoting: ChuckaluphagusSame here. And they make fun of mobile gamers.Quoting: mr-victoryWhile you are discussing PC vs console, the next gen already switched to mobile.I can only speak for my kids and their friends, but all of their gaming is on Switch, Xbox, Playstation, and Steam. None of the younger kids (10 and younger) we see have phones that are capable of gaming, but everyone has a console at home and/or their parents' PC.
