Don't thank me, it is just some links from the Google search (which can be mastered by anyone). :)
OK I don't do :-)

It stays on my wishlist, as these things are no problem for me. As far as I have the time to play it, I will probably buy.

Quoting: Alm888Locking some of the content behind mandatory registration and online connection requirement (khm… "Ventures"… khm…) in a single-player game was a dumb move, IMO.

This, coupled with banning all the players using mods from said online-exclusive content (in a game series historically tied to modding community, yeah!) and marking their saves as "cheated"^W "modded" (sorry) and online-centric game balance (crew takes ages to train offline while leveling-up easily during "Ventures") effectively undermined users' trust. Also IMO, of course.
What are you talking about?

xrdesktop, a new Valve-funded open source project to bring Linux desktops into VR

Yeah, that is one reason, why I buy my games only on Steam.
Valves does really earn their cut, for doing so much for Linux ond OSS.

Of course there will be a business strategy to earn money, but why not?

Thanks Gaben!

EDIT: Typo

Seems that the Linux version of Supraland will not be heading to GOG (updated)

Probably need a tinfoil hat for this one, but I suspect they may have signed some papers that prevents them from releasing it until some time after it releases on Stadia.
Perhaps they just have to rework their business strategy?
They can now act as a porter Win--> Stadia....
And perhaps they set up a new Win--> Linux porting strategy by using Steamplay?

Now we will have lots of game devs and publishers saying:
"See, there is no reliable Distro in the Linux world. It doesn't make sense to ship software for Linux"
No doubt we will. But they will be fools to do so. Look, Microsoft and Apple make stupid decisions all the time. When they do, just exactly what can you do about it? Can you switch to a different Windows or Mac OS distro?
This is a time to celebrate the fact that Linux distros are not monopolies.
Like it or not, but with that small userbase it is also a disadvantage.
Developers and Companys like Adobe will be held away from bringing their software to Linux.
They want one reliable OS --> MS gives it to them.

We need a big popular and reliable Distro, to have enough marketshare and live the "diversity". With 1% marketshare distributed across more then 10 Distros, we will remain irrelevant (on Desktop) for most of the companies.
As may be--would you be happier right now if Ubuntu were the only Linux distro?
Absolutely not. But when there is not one big "standard" (with a bigger marketshare may be two) Distro, that developers can adress, we will not get software/games for Linux. And that one also has to be beginner friendly.
It is very positive, that there is more than one, but too much is also not good.
the dose makes the poison...

Canonical have released a statement on Ubuntu and 32bit support, will keep select packages

That's not perfect, but much better.

I think they should try to team up with devs of other distros like Mint and so on. Then they can do the work together and support all i386 libs until a good working container (or whatever) solution is found.

May that not be enough, they could do some crowdfunding or so, to buy ressources do to help doing the job.
