Quoting: poiuzHuh:Quoting: m2mg2Can you name anything that improved leaps and bounds after starting to collect telemetry? Gnome does telemetry but they continuously ignore the obvious will of users to do what they want instead. No, they're not. Stop spreading FUD.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is absolute boomer shooter joy

Should I not be offended by the term "boomer shooter?" "Boomer" has become a derogatory term since the "OK Boomer" meme to signify older people whose opinions, knowledge, and experience we no longer care to hear. I assume it is being used at least partly in that way here, since the games in question hearken back to the mid-90s, which would have been Gen-X era (maybe millennials, though I suspect they were mostly too young). Likely most baby boomers don't even play video games.
Or maybe I'm over thinking it and it just rhymes better than Gen-Xer FPSer.

This is quite interesting to me. I've had an HTPC running Kodi, but I never liked it. They had a plugin to start Steam, but that stopped working as Kodi updated and I saw not work to fix it.
Unless I've missed it, there aren't many 10-foot UIs available for Linux. I'm not sure what this is using; it's not obvious from their web site. Can I assume if I install FireFox it can work with a controller to move the mouse around?
Whatever happened to Valve open-sourcing SteamOS 3.0, anyway?

The Last of Us now Unsupported on Steam Deck, bad look for Valve and Naughty Dog

I don't blame Valve. I bet they took it on Naughty Dog's word that it was working.
It is likely that the promotional video was created by some graphics artist from various footage, and doubtful it even came directly from a Steam Deck. I mean, why capture from the Steam Deck in order to provide exact visuals when you can just take it from a PC. It's nice when you can do it but to save time I'm sure they skip that step.

Quoting: GuestOh. I don't remember having to do that years ago and I saw my other game inputs were available. Good to know.Quoting: MaathAllow me to select a Steam input mapping from another game instead of having to remake my preferred "Keyboard and Mouse" mapping every phuqin time. You're supposed to click the cog wheel and save the mapping as a Template to be used in other games, then it'll show up when you scroll to the very bottom.

What I want to see:
When I'm on the store page and select a game, when I go back, REMEMBER WHERE I WAS AT! This has been a problem with the Steam store on Linux always, but on the desktop I can get around it by middle clicking on a game and opening a new window so that I can close it and I'm still where I was.
Handle closing of games and programs better. Why are we reinventing the wheel? It's not rocket science. But if a game doesn't close in just the perfect way, the Steam logo spins forever. If you then go to your library, play another game and then close it, it goes back to that never closing game. Just kill -9 it already!
Allow me to sort my wishlist like I can on the desktop. It's really useless otherwise with over 700 games on there.
Allow me to select a Steam input mapping from another game instead of having to remake my preferred "Keyboard and Mouse" mapping every phuqin time. Really the whole selection process for Steam input sucks. There are multiple "Keyboard and Mouse" options, with the same description. So how am I supposed to know what the differences are? Some of the selections, when you choose them, have no buttons mapped at all! So why are they there?!

I'm glad to see that most people here do not think this is a good move.
To add to the conversation, I want to remind people that games used to only come on physical media. Back then there was a secondary market where people could sell their used games, and others could buy them. In the 90s and early 2000s all games which started out at $60 would in about one year be available for $20.
So for those folks who sold their old games, the total cost of ownership was actually lower, depending on how quickly they sold them off. And for those who don't feel the need to get the latest and greatest games when they came out, they benefited from waiting for the price to decrease.
In the digital domain, none of that happens. All game sales go through the developer, and they do not have to compete with their own product on the used market. The TCO is higher since you can't sell it off.
At least for those of us old enough to remember, it's not fun to see no discounts accruing on games as they age.

The Steam store keeps showing the Winter sale on my Steam Deck. I can go to "Steam Home,' which shows the correct page, click on any game, then click the B button to go back and it is back to the Winter sale page, which has been done for weeks.
I restarted my Steam Deck, to no effect. Really this as well as the horrible scrolling and item selection with the D pad makes the store unusable. You'd think they'd care, as that is how they make money. I reported it but of course nobody gives a shit.
