The sad case of Trine on Mesa and Linux in 2019

I think program-specific driver modifications are not the best use of effort. If the driver authors AMD and Nvidia are encouraged to have games work with their hardware, I wish they would assist in debugging efforts in the game's code, or work on enhancing the API standards to avoid confusion.

So it's aliasing. Seems easier to just turn off anti-aliasing.

I'm waiting for displays with enough pixel density that we don't need any of these post processing features.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I caution that this could become an Epic exclusive. I don't know if using the Unreal engine increases that potential or not.

Dota 2 is going through some big changes to matchmaking

I have never played an online multiplayer game where I felt adequately matched to the other random people. Most of the time it feels like shooting fish in a bucket, except I'm the fish. But, I did play a game with very basic coordination among the players to keep control of communications stations from the game-controlled enemy and the others didn't seem to know what they were doing.

It's amazing to me how popular these types of games are considering how poorly the matchmaking has been for me.

There's something about the way this game looks which is quite beautiful to me. I love the effects when you're flying close to the ground. It kind of reminds me of a 2-D No Man's Sky. I hope there's an easy mode for guys with slow reaction times like me.

It is funny, but I was thinking the exact same thing as I was reading. The first link to the project page provides good answers to that question. The best one is basically the same reason to continue supporting 32-bit libraries; to allow for legacy programs written in OpenGL to still function in future hardware which may only have a Vulkan driver.

Anyone could patch out the anti-cheat code in the client. If your anti-cheat relies on security through obscurity, you will eventually have people breaking your anti-cheat regardless of how closed source your anti-cheat code actually is, people will just need to take some more time to locate where that code is being called and turn a CALL or JUMP instruction into a NOP or something along those lines. If you want to actually combat cheating, your server needs to provide the minimum necessary data to each client, monitor that all clients are behaving within expected parameters and provide tools for users to kick or report players thought to be cheating or otherwise misbehaving.
It's a nice idea, but anti-cheat is being done on the client, otherwise we wouldn't have incompatibility issues with games implementing Easy Anti-Cheat.

Maybe they'll implement it server-side, but I assume they will implement it the same way as other games and at least part of it will be client side.
