CHKN, the weirdest open-world sandbox game where you create creatures has a huge new release

I'll be looking seriously at this once out of early access. Weirdly good!

THQ Nordic has acquired the Carmageddon IP, perhaps we will finally get it on Linux

Quoting: svartalfNot only am I not a troll, some of what I'd read showed DIFFERENT...
[snip rant...]
Wow, sounds like you worked public relations for Stainless!

I paid for a copy that was promised and didn't get it. End of. Anyway...

Hopefully THQ Nordic will show some Linux love to this or at the very least I might get around to trying it via Proton without vomiting now those lying thieves are no longer involved.

Island survival game 'Stranded Deep' has a new stable build out, tons of fixes in and running well

This sounds like my kind of thing, will be following this closely!

7 Days to Die now has an experimental build available for Alpha 17, it's a huge difference

I'm sure I Kickstarted this back in the day but it's been so long I can't remember! I've been tempted to try it but as it's constantly evolving I thought I'd wait until near some sort of official release.

Bought this a while back but waiting to play it all in one go when finished. I've got a huge backlog of games to get through, so I can afford to wait. I'll savour it when the time comes ^_^

Just popping a +1 on here to say I'll be buying from Feral when released, as I did with the last Tomb Raider title. Really enjoy these games.

Snapshot Games have cancelled the Linux version of Phoenix Point

Bottom line, as with other instances like this, is that a Linux version was promised and people paid for what was promised, in good faith. Unfortunately this is far too easily abused.

I was burned a long time ago with Kickstarting but learnt my lesson and will never be suckered again. Good luck with refunds, I hope you get them. I didn't.

Lutris game manager release 0.4.22 is out to further refine the experience

Quoting: MayeulCNote that I had the same problem as fabertawe, with the battle.net launcher just closing/disappearing as soon as I launched it. I solved that issue by editing the Lutris configuration to use system wine.
Success ^_^ Thanks for the pointer, I changed the wine version on the Overwatch container to "default" but left the Lutris Wine version as staging.

This was after much fiddling with wine versions and configuration options and I finally got the installer to complete but then had to change wine versions back to get the game to actually run!

Played through the tutorial with what felt like a good framerate but a little jittery mouse movement.

I will now investigate using Lutris for other things, mainly emulation. It feels like a very polished bit of software.

Quoting: BrisseIt might have been misguided the first time (the gamergate tweet IIRC) and they should have learned from it, but then it happened again and again and by then they should have learned their lesson. After the third time they apologized and said "We will stick to games" but that's what they should have done after the first time. Only the future will tell if they stick to their word though.
Fair enough. I was not aware of anything they tweeted previously, only from this article. In which case I would be amazed if they didn't learn anything from this latest incident.

Quoting: BrisseI'm not sure it was your intention but I felt like the free speech dig was some excuse to silence the opposition because ironically people, especially the alt-right for some reason, like to use "free speech" as an argument to just silence the opposition. It's like "Hey, I'll have my free speech and I'll take away your freedom to have my free speech because free speech only belongs to me". I see that a lot, but maybe it was not your intention.
I've never been "anything-right", I'm usually "just-wrong" :D

My free speech dig is at the attack on free speech, most certainly not the suppression of it. Suppression is the problem and will only get worse with successive governments (in the UK at least).

Quoting: fabertaweI'm so happy having no knowledge of Twitter and Facebook, etc, etc. Somebody somewhere will always be offended by everything. Free speech is already irreparably damaged in the UK.

GOG should have had more sense than to post that. The level of uproar and backlash however, is just ludicrous.
What level of uproar? Some people are upset, there have been a small handful of articles calling them out on it, and an even smaller handful of game companies (allegedly) withdrew from the storefront over it.
Maybe I have overestimated the "level" as I don't have Twitter etc. I'm only judging from what I've read here and that seems like an over reaction to me considering what GOG actually wrote.

Quoting: KelsIf you want a big hue and cry, just look at the "GOG did nothing wrong" crowd in this very thread going on about how unjust it is, and how free speech is endangered, and they'll never buy a game from Hinterland again, and how SJWs somehow run the whole world. There's histrionics for you.
I don't "want a big hue and cry", that's my point :) By "uproar" I meant everyone, irrespective of viewpoint. I guess I'm now part of it

Quoting: BrisseSo "backlash", or as I would put it, pointing out when someone did something inappropriate, is not covered under your definition of free speech? Interesting.
Of course it is, I never said otherwise. My "free speech" dig was aimed very widely at social media in general. My second paragraph was where I mentioned GOG and this specific incident.

GOG did nothing "inappropriate", just misguided.

Quoting: BrisseNot that this controversy has anything to do with free speech to begin with.
I disagree (to some extent). I find it both funny and sad that some people can get so upset at the silly pun that was actually written.
