Valve officially confirm a new version of 'Steam Play' which includes a modified version of Wine

Quoting: Ehvis
Quoting: fabertaweEdit: It would be nice if there was a way to differentiate the proton compatible games in my list. A separate drop down category on the Library menu would be nice.

I actually put all the Windows games in a "Windows" category. This category disappears when I select Linux games. But it would reappear if any of those games suddenly becomes available on Linux. I don't have a proton supported game, but this may work for that as well. (unless you turn proton on for all win games of course)

I just added STALKER to a "Proton" category and it's listed separately at the top of my game list, so that's something. Thanks for the info.

Wow... big news, big thread (and I'm late to the party as usual!). I have actually read every post

Just re-installed STALKER: Shadow Of Chernobyl for the hell of it, to test. Played it a looong time ago, back when I had a Windows partition. Enjoyed all three games immensely as it happens.

This is a double edged sword for me though. The fact purchases count as a Linux sale is great, especially as there are potentially a lot of very good games which can be had cheaply in the sales. But... if I'm buying a Windows game then I'm not spending that money on a Linux native game. Which is even worse these days as I have such a backlog of titles to wade through that I'm spending less on games anyway.

Interesting times ahead!

I just bought this on the strength of Liam's articles and the Dev's model ^_^

The game's better than I imagined, really good fun. "Blocky" graphics usually put me off a bit but they lend the game a certain style and I'm enjoying it. Excellent!

Kingdom Rush Origins to release on Steam in the next few months, looks like Linux will be supported

Quoting: razing32The first one was beatable , second one kicked me in the teeth around the half way point. Wondering if I'll manage to beat this one.

Same for me. Loved the first one but had to give up on the second as it became too difficult and frustrating. Some games obviously need a mega-noob-baby difficulty setting for me to enjoy them!

It seemed with the second that they'd tried to shoehorn in too many boss type characters and it just overwhelmed me in the end.

We Happy Few has a brand new trailer out

Very much looking forward to this one.

I feel a bit guilty these days that I already have so many unplayed games that it takes something very appealing to get me interested in buying a new release. I would never have imagined being in that situation a few years back!

Quoting: GuestBoo Google's age restrictions. Everyone really needs to host videos elsewhere and dump Google from their lives.

Edit 1: hooktube.com :D To quote from their site...

QuoteShare YouTube videos without giving them views. Bypass country blocks and age restrictions. Download YouTube videos and music. Keep your data private from the G.

HOW: Just replace the domain in any YT link with hooktube.com

Or view it on their site directly. I'm not registered with youtube so using hooktube was the only way I could see this video.

Edit 2: Loving the music too. It's usually the first thing I turn down or completely off when I play a game of this type but not this time if that trailer's anything to go by.

I'm not familiar with this title but it's a steal at that price, so welcome to my library! I'm sure I can recompense Nordic with a future purchase.

The Steam Linux market share for June was 0.52% as Steam is still growing rather rapidly

It must be an age thing but I can't see the obsession with having to have all the latest so called "AAA games". How much does this cost to buy all these new releases at full price?!

I've got over 400 Linux games :O and have played a fraction of them to completion. If I never buy another game I will still never play all the GOOD games I haven't yet touched.

Quoting: wolfyrion3. No gamer will want to play a game after 1 or 2 years if it will be ported.

I will and do ^_^ I actually prefer this as all the bug fixes and DLC are included and it's cheaper!

Rise of the Tomb Raider has a new opt-in beta to help with NVIDIA issues
1 May 2018 at 10:07 am UTC

Just bought this a few days ago from the Feral Store and I'm loving it (as I knew I would!). Using the 390.48 driver as per the Arch repos with a GTX970 (1080p) and it's been super smooth on high settings (roughly between 60 - 80 fps). Some of the cut scenes were not as smooth as they could be however.

Is the beta opt-in a full download again? I'll try it if not.

Great news, will be picking this up as soon as I'm back from holiday :) Even better, the Mrs can pay for it as a birthday present :D

Loved the first one (Feral port) and will be picking this up from their store. I rarely pay full price (lack of funds rather than being tight ;) ) but will show my support for their great work.

Also, I don't know if anyone else feels the same way but my game purchases have been slowing down over the last year or so due to the backlog of GOOD games I've yet to play
