I was part of the Beta... time has flown! I would never have guessed at what was coming though, I'm actually snowed under with a backlog of GOOD games yet to be played :D

Playing Doom 3 on Linux in 2017

Periodically I'll casually look at Doom 3 with a view to getting it set up as it's "the one that got away". I love all the old ID stuff. Good write up and thanks for the push - dhewm3 it is then!

Plutocracy is a game about wealth, power and corruption and it's coming to Linux

Quoting: GuestSorry but i can murder a lot of innocent people in Saints Row with no problem, but being a dirty capitalist...? Nope, i'm not that psycopath.
This :D I play games for escapism but this reminds me too much of the grubby reality we actually now live in! ;)

My comment was meant more tongue in cheek
Fair enough :D

Quoting: razing32Was more curios what you were having fun with. I have a tonne of games but I seem to find myself drifting to older games run via wine (Tachyon the Fringe , Deus Ex 1 , Return to Castle Wolfenstein)

Don't think I ever had a love affair with platformers but did play them as a kid since they were the norm.
Loved Dying light but more from the sense of dread and panic while traversing the city at night.
I tend to favor RTS/TBS/Point and click and just stay away from the action and breathe in the world around me.
I can certainly appreciate that last bit. Maybe I've been neglecting my gaming at a subconscious level because I agree with you ;) I'm slowing down with old age!

Quoting: razing32What fun stuff did you find to play solo ?
Curios for myself :P
Really? I currently have over 400 Linux games :woot: Quite amazing! None of those are multiplayer only games.

I tend to favour FPS type games like Dying Light, Hitman, Borderlands 2, Deus Ex, Shadow Of Mordor, Mad Max etc etc, you get the idea ;) Steamworld Dig's the nearest I get to a platformer these days.

I used Wine for gaming but not for a few years now. I did rack up 103 hours in Far Cry 2, for instance and loved the Stalker series.

Aaaaarrrghhhh! :dizzy: I'm getting too far behind with my gaming. Slow down with all the good stuff :P

Cyberpunk horror game 'Observer' releases for Linux today, no AMD support at release

This is going to the top of my wishlist. Just behind SteamWorld Dig 2, which I still haven't had the chance to buy. "Embarrassment of riches" is the phrase that comes to mind these days, who'd have thought that a few years ago?

Well I actually picked this up :P Seemed like it was worth a punt at that price. I've only given it a very brief testing though but it does appear to work perfectly on Linux (so far).

The game is still being developed actively and it looks like they're working to give room owners the powers to silence, kick and ban users, so the "nasty" elements are getting contained. Find a room with a decent admin and it could be a lot of fun.

p.s. I generally avoid any online gaming so I surprised myself by getting this one

Lonely Mountains: Downhill, an arcade-style mountain biking game is on Kickstarter with Linux support

I loved Kikstart on the CBM64. It appears the follow up was spelt differently (CBM64) - 'Kickstarter II'. Had to have a look on youtube... then saw 'action biker', the memories are flooding back, great stuff!

Back on topic... the graphics look great in this game and could be a fun casual game to pick up. But... when actually released and not before.

people are terrible
The basic problem of most online games.
Indeed. I checked out some vids and while the premise is great and could be a lot of fun, unfortunately it could get tiring wading through the idiots.

Might be fun with a GOL only crowd though :D Don't know how you could control the audience, I'll take a cautionary glance anyway.
