Now to address that directly. I got tired of issues cropping up when updating, I was taken in by "ooo shiny, updates often" etc etc. In reality, it's not all that stable, especially when it comes to gaming.

I agree about the stability part. Arch breaks more than probably any other linux distro I've used. I'm pretty spoiled by gentoo though. If something breaks, it was pretty much my fault.
Interesting, I almost never have those issues with plain Arch.
Apologies for the OT but I'm afraid I must also comment here.

I very rarely have problems with Arch and any that do very rarely crop up are simple to remedy, either by myself or with a quick look at the forums also. I guess I'm just lucky

I always feel I have less problems by using Arch than I otherwise would, precisely because everything's up to date. I haven't used Ubuntu since 2009 admittedly but the very reason I moved away was because of constant annoyances with old, stale software. I also compile a lot of stuff from the AUR without issue. In fact it always amazes me how simple this is.

P.S. I'm not trying to bash Ubuntu or any other distro, just stating my experiences. Use what floats your boat and be happy!

It took them a long time, but GOG now have Tiny and Big: Grandpa's Leftovers for Linux

As per Keyrock - really enjoyed the first one, will be picking this up asap.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info. Sounds a bit iffy for a single player game but I'd have to evaluate that on a per game basis. Slippery slope though, all the same.

I'm really interested in this one. I will assess the pros and cons of DLC etc only after the Linux release.

Quoting: SolitaryJust look what they did to Shadow of War (sequel to Shadow of Mordor). I don't even care if they port it or not, it's shameful.
What happened exactly? I don't follow gaming news in general, i.e. Windows/consoles, only Linux related, so I wouldn't know.

SteamWorld Dig 2 to release in September with Linux support

Absolutely loved the first one, I'll be picking this up for sure! I'm more excited by the release of this than something like Hitman. And I mainly play FPS type games. And I loved Hitman. :D

Open-world first-person shooter "The Signal From Tölva" has a Linux version in progress

This is a definite buy for me - once released of course.

I loved 'Sir You Are Being Hunted' and had a lot of value from that one. Plus, Big Robot were superb with the Linux build all through Kickstarter (SYABH) and it worked perfectly on a par with the Windows version right from the start.

Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

Quoting: g000hFor people going on about Steam client being proprietary closed source... well the GOG Galaxy client for Windows is the same. Also what is your issue with Game Clients being Closed Source, when the Games themselves which you want to install and play are closed source. I'm directing this at Shmerl's position. Surely if you need to run open source everywhere, then that should also include the Game code itself?
This is exactly what I was thinking and going to post. Some people will only use an open source graphics driver to run their closed source game? Logic implosion! Someone please explain that one.

I'd love the world to be open source and it's something to strive for certainly. I detest hypocrisy too.
Needing proprietary software to use your hardware is different to choosing. It's the choice that people want, even if it's not an exclusive choice.
Fair enough. It's the people who are vehemently opposed to closed source who don't apply it to everything they use who are hypocritical.

Edit: Perhaps I should have said "who don't apply it to everything they use - where that possibility does exist and they actually have that choice".
