Valve has expanded the Steam Play whitelist to include DARK SOULS III and plenty more

Quoting: ArehandoroI wonder why it's easier to whitelist Star Wars - Dark Forces rather than using Dropbox like the GOG version. Good to see so many games whitelisted though :D
Because using DosBox requires a separate Linux depot, a custom DosBox setup and testing of the whole thing whereas using Proton just requires it to be tested, verified to work and then setting which version of Proton it was verified to work with; no changes need to be made to the game files / distribution.
He said DROPBOX, not DOSBOX. Can't you read? :P

Quoting: poisondYou can aim much faster than with a mouse - just point your controller at the target.
There's touch pads you can use for movement and turning.
And I don't even know what you'd want a keyboard for in a VR game.
A mouse is faster for aiming. You just have to slightly move it to turn around and all that stuff.

Quoting: kuhpunktIt seems like you've never experienced VR. Correct me if I'm wrong... but playing VR games with keyboard and mouse aren't really good. Just explain to me how you're supposed to aim, view and turn around with a VR headset and keyboard mouse.
I guess you could turn around with your head (games needs to make sure enemies don't come from behind, or have some 180° turning key) and aim with the mouse. You're shown some crosshair. I'm not sure it would feel natural, though, having something in your hand that feels like (parts of) an actual gun would be better.
Yeah, and that doesn't work. I mean VR shooters can work of course. But he claimed that it would work just the same and that you could basically implement VR into any ego shooter. That just doesn't work.
Of course it works. I've played HL2 with KB&mouse on the DK2.
It wasn't anywhere as good as playing with the Vive controllers or even a plain gamepad, but it worked.
Yeah, it "worked." But there's still a shit ton of cognitive dissonance. Why else do you think is it that not all FPS have been updated with a VR mode by now? It's been more than 2 years.

Quoting: SeegrasEvery first-person perspective game would be basically better with VR, unless it needs a lot of GUI.
That is far from the truth. Imagine Quake 3 in VR. How are you supposed to move? That just doesn't work. VR is its own thing.
How am I moving when using a normal screen? Exactly.

Yes, there's a problem because you don't know where your fingers on the keyboard are, thus some kind of controller would help; but otherwise this works as expected.

Quoting: ScrollingSquirrelSpace isn't an issue. It never has been and never will be since you can always use VR seated.
Games like Unseen Diplomacy or Budget Cuts need some space. You can't play those seated.

what will the dev behind it afterwards besides some bugfixing? :>
No idea, but there's still some work to be done. Most of it won't be too exciting though.
Don't want to see you unemployed. You're a genius. That talent needs to be harvested.

If I may ask... how is DX7, 8 and 9 support under Wine/Proton? I mean when there's not that much left to do for DXVK, what will the dev behind it afterwards besides some bugfixing? :>

Quoting: SeegrasNo, it's like releasing the third part for IMAX-theatres, but not for normal ones.
The only problem is that IMAX theatres are kinda rare, but the experience is still pretty much the same. Otherwise there are no other hurdles. You don't need to buy a 500$ accessoire to enter an IMAX theatre.
