Sci-fi horror adventure Directive 8020 from Supermassive Games arrives in May

I like their style of adventure/horror games, hopefully this one does well because if not I'm afraid this will be the last one. Supermassive had some big layoffs in the past years, so I don't have a positive outlook of the studio.
I blame some of that on the questionable decision to make their previous game based on a multiplayer IP (Dead by Daylight). If they completely ran out of fresh ideas, there are hundreds of horror movies/stories that are in public domain now that they could re-tell in a videogame. The worst place to look for a story is in a multiplayer game IP.

Quoting: EikeStrange I have never seen Steam misreport Proton. Have you maybe used GeForce Now to stream games?, Steam counts that as Windows.Quoting: 1xokMaybe on some visit? I don't have Windows either, but I played at a relative's.Almost no one in the family has a Windows PC. There is an old, half-broken laptop. I wouldn't enter my data there either.
In my case I think it's more likely that Steam detects Proton as Windows in some cases.

Surprisingly good announcements this year at least for my taste in games. ONTOS and No Law are the ones I'm most looking forward to.
It will be interesting to see how the Tomb Raider games turn out. Considering that Amazon is the publisher I anticipate the worst, but maybe this will be a return to form for the franchise.

Survival Horror is my favorite genre, so I will definitely check out Cold Fear and I Am Alive on GOG (I already have both on Steam, they are in a pretty bad shape there though so would not mind a better/drm free version).
It has been a long time since I played either of those games, but I Am Alive in remember as an original game for the time. Kinda like a more serious Disaster Report type of game.

On my setup with:
RX 7900 GRE at 1440p resolution
Graphics maxed, Dynamic Resolution with target set to 60fps and supersamling OFF
FPS Hovers around 35-55fps depending on the location
One weird thing is that even though it is possible to set a lower resolution scale, it does not seem to scale performance much as expected (so not sure if something is broken with the setting). To gain better performance it is really all about adjusting quality settings.
So for me it was a better option to switch to Proton, and play the game using XeSS upscaling.
I bet one could play around with the UE5 config files on the native version to tweak things

Can anybody comment on the performance of the native Linux version? Not great but it is playable, performance is kinda all over the place depending on the location.

I believe the Linux version uses software ray tracing on the higher graphic settings, but I have to compare to the Windows version more to be sure.

I wouldn't care for ray tracing, but as the negative reviews mostly are due to performance, some scaling might helpThere is TSR and adaptive scaling in the native version, but yea kinda weird that they did not add FSR or DLSS.

Great bundle for those that don't already have House of Ashes or The Quarry. These two are amongst Supermassives best games in my opinion, and while both games launched in a very buggy state most of the issues have been fixed by now. The games scale poorly though when it comes to performance, considering these are so focused around cinematic presentation/graphics it is weird how they neglected adding modern upscaling options like FSR.

I'm a fan of horror games especially PS1 style. So far have played through about half of the game and I think the devs did a really good job with the audio and graphics. It looks retro without taking it too far, and the audio and voice acting is top tier. I generally prefer bite sized shorter games as well (when priced accordingly)
Fanatical have another great bundle of Steam Deck Verified games

Fanatical often has better deals and bundles than Humble, so good idea to sign up as an affiliate there
However it appears to be difficult to tell on their site when a purchase gets counted towards an affiliate sale. On Humble the site states clearly when a sale counts. But on Fanatical I could only tell from the initial URL, but from there on nothing indicating in the last steps of the checkout that an affiliate link had been used in the first place.
Considering I'm always behind a VPN with adblocker and also using Ublock Origin, I have to wonder if the affiliate thing worked.
