For me is good news! the day that we dont need ports anymore is closer! And linux gaming wont have limitations to grow. And if it grows enough publishers will care a lot that game runs pretty well on linux also :P

Quoting: scaineLove these articles, Hamish. Keep 'em coming. I remember fondly my first experience of switching from software rendering to... some kind of Voodoo card, but I can't remember which one. It was life-changing. I mean that genuinely - it was the moment that crystallised the potential of PC gaming for me. First I played Deux Ex, then I played Quake. Every so often, I'd switch back to software rendering just to remind myself how muddy and uninteresting these virtual worlds were before hardware acceleration. You forget the jumpers to configure the irq's to avoid conflicts between cards.
Back then, motherboards didn't have built-in sound either. Or network for that matter. Stacking the PCI slots in the right order to avoid contact and maximise airflow is a lost art. These days, you basically have a monster GPU... and that's it.

Quoting: EhvisIt's exactly the same thing. VR is a better replacement of Flat Monitors. 3D games was not replacing tradicional gaming, we still have 2D release gamings.Quoting: bubexelIt reminds me people saying same at half life 2 because it had no software rendering and no everybody can afford a video accelerated card. When you play for first time 3D games with a good accelerated videogame you don't want anymore software accelerated games. Same feeling i have with VR. I have a problem with flat games atm to be honest. Not the same thing. Hardware accelerated rendering was a better replacement for software rendering. However, VR gaming is not a replacement traditional gaming. It is an entirely different beast that needs a different approach to games. I would love to have more high quality VR games, but I don't want to give up the regular ones.

Quoting: orochi_kyoSelfish? we just want next gen gaming, just that. It reminds me people saying same at half life 2 because it had no software rendering and no everybody can afford a video accelerated card. When you play for first time 3D games with a good accelerated videogame you don't want anymore software accelerated games. Same feeling i have with VR. I have a problem with flat games atm to be honest.Quoting: bubexelEvery single VR user in this forum is the same thing, we don't like VR and you think we haven't tried. Second-hand VR are scarce and according to some VR users they don't approach that 90 FPS to enjoy VR "properly".Quoting: Whitewolfe80Single player games yes please i would prefer non vr games as i think its a gimmick but as long as linux is support natively sure why not some vr games for people that into that.Amazing that there is people saying vr is a gimmick on 2021. It's been in market atleast 4 years atm and you didn't tried it yet? do a favour to yourself and buy on second hand market and play half life alyx.
And i really hope the next game from Valve will be VR, i tought i was not experience like i did when i was child with games like doom or quake never in my live, that it was part of be a kid. But Half life Alxy made me feel same feeling, wowing at any corner of the game.
Expecting the next valve game to be VR is so selfish but I expect that after seeing comments coming from VR owners on Alyx forums.

Quoting: Liam DaweI'm already supporting your patreon. But i will see what i can do about this VR set...Quoting: bubexelLiam start a crowdfounding or something to get a VR set. I'm really interested to see some news and report about Linux VR. You will have my bucks. We already have one [External Link]. Plenty of other ways to support us here. Setting up a dedicated one isn't really feasible for many reasons. Besides, wrong article I guess for this comment?

Quoting: BasianiProton, Steam Play?! GG :DSince i know RTX and DLSS are from your graphic card. You mean that 90% of its price comes from this features from your videocard? what about history? gameplay? and a long etc.. what will think CD project after 7 years of hard work that only 10% of its price is from their work XD
Pay $60 and you will got $10 product because no RTX, no DLSS, no perfect performance, Proton just runs that game with low FPS and also no one knows how many times that low FPS goes to 0 when game will be updated.
Damn! Absofuckinlutely smart marketing from CD Project.
I'm not dumb to buy that sh*t. Yes, sh*t, because you are paying same as Windows users and getting maximum 25% quality compared Windows users.
