7 Days to Die gets an experimental Beta for the 1.0 release

Quoting: AllocOne could also conclude you have encountered a bug that no one else has ;)
Hoo no, I'm not that special

I checked how they handle bug reports and found it is all done on the official forums (and the known issues are published though a spreadsheet on google docs ). There is already one bug report similar to my problem but they have some problem reproducing the crash. I added a new report with my logs hoping to help.

7 Days to Die gets an experimental Beta for the 1.0 release

The native version of the experimental beta crashes after a few seconds after loading a new game and immediately after loading a save while the proton version is stable. Since nobody here wrote about the stability i conclude all normally uses the proton version?

The supervillains won, so fight back in superhero strategy game Capes - out now

Is it possible the cursor/button offset is linked to the use of wayland or X11? With KDE Wayland I see the problem but not in KDE X11.

Setting the environmental variable fixes the problem for me on KDE Wayland, thank you :woot: .

About the Steam rating, after the first days of mixed reviews (from people complaining about the game being too similar or to different than XCOM :dizzy:) now the majority of reviews are positive. The game is already at 65% positive and raising (a little slowly). At 70% it should switch to "mostly positive", it is not far away.

The game is good and fun, nice graphics and for now performance and stability are good. The absence of randomness and cover makes it quite different than the classics, it is more centered on the interaction between the characters.

Quoting: CheesenessOh darn. We saw this on the Steam Deck, but I thought we'd fixed it. I'll look into it further and see what I can do.
I found a similar problem linked to the interaction between the cursor and the UI elements (buttons, checkboxes). It looks like there is some offset between the cursor coordinates and the UI coordinates. The cursor is not interacting with the buttons in the lower part of the buttons but keeps interacting on the upper part even where the UI element is already ended. Switching to windowed and back fixes the problem. I am running a Fedora 40 with KDE, AMD GPU and a 2560x1440 monitor (there is also another 1920x1080 monitor connected).

One thing I found missing is the audio for the narrator in the intermission videos. The characters speak and then... silence... then they speak again. A good narrative voice would perhaps have improved the interludes, and given more opportunities to add more funny jokes  .

Embracer Group splitting into three companies
22 Apr 2024 at 1:39 pm UTC Likes: 2

When a restructuring company splits in two it is usually because they want to keep the "good" parts and put the "bad" parts in a "bad company" that can be left to die. This is a little different, why 3 companies? The "AAA" company is probably the profitable one, the one they plan to keep milking. But the other two? Two different levels of risk of investment?

BORE BLASTERS will be your next fixation - out now
9 Mar 2024 at 4:41 pm UTC Likes: 1

I had some difficulties installing the demo of Bore Blasters on the Steam Deck.
Searching for the game returned the demo in the results but opening the link to the demo opened the store page of the full game. In the page there was not a link to install the demo, only the OST and various packages. The store page in the desktop version of steam on my main PC instead had the link to install the demo.
I tried installing the demo on in desktop PC hoping to make it visible in the "last games" section of the steam deck but it didn't work. Searching again in the steam deck displayed the demo in the library section and this time it allowed me to install it.
Am I the only one with this problem or is it specific to some configuration of my system? I am on the stable version of the Steam Deck. Since the Steam Deck looks like an awesome platform to play this game I find it strange to encounter all this difficulties installing the demo. If this is a common problem for others it may useful to the developer to know about it.

Valve reveals Steam Deck OLED for November 16th

Quoting: slaapliedjeWatching the Gamer's Nexus tear down of the new one vs the old one... there are many more changes than just 'we added OLED'.
Yes, bad news for who wanted to use parts of the new Steam deck on the old one

SMITE now works on Linux and Steam Deck in the latest update
14 Jun 2023 at 7:59 am UTC Likes: 1

A tip for those who want to try the game:
Before installing the first Smite you find on the Steam Deck, check the title is "SMITE" and not "SMITE - Public Test". On the Steam Deck they are listed side-by-side and the image/banner is of no help. To obtain the effective textual name of the game I had to open the settings of the game (cog icon on the right in the page of the game).

Overkill drops Linux support for PAYDAY 2

Looking further, it looks like they added Linux support after release:

Maybe it is available but not officially supported? There is a Linux depot in steamdb:

Quoting: Eike[...]but Half-Life (Alyx) sure does.
Are you sure? On the Steam store I do not see the Linux icon or the minimum requirements for Linux  .
