i have 224 Linux games in my library with 95% of them installed.
and i'd say 90% of them work perfectly fine - yes some unity3d games have some framerate and mouse issues but those are not so common anymore as 1-2 years ago

today i dont plan to play much.. had a nice BL2 coop friday night ...also there was a steamLUG event about it but i had a friend with hes pc(also linux user) at my place.

change those lines like that:

[Engine.Console]
ConsoleKey=Tilde
TypeKey=Backslash

save the file and go in to game, press tilde and type stat fps"

Linux Gaming looks more better every day. Now we need some bigger Racing and MMORPG games to have the most of the genres on our favourite platform.

they basicaly wrote everything from the scratch with the new experimental version.
new models, textures, animations, pathing systems, weather system, night cycles, clouds everything :)

to improve performance: __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1 %command% into steam launch options (Nvidia users only)

i got my eye on Asus STRIX 970 ... need to replace my 660Ti..

but probably will wait till end of the year and hope the prices drop a little

I just downloaded The Valley and ran it on my system that has a GTX 860M with 4GB VRAM. I only get an average of 30 FPS. I opened up the system monitor and it was maxing out a single core which means The Valley is CPU bound (probably in draw calls). Since it's CPU bound you could throw a GPU that's 10x better in here and The Valley would still only get about 30 FPS if you had my same CPU.

no its not cpu bound. you will get pretty much same result with any cpu (unless its atom or something super low) its higly GPU bound benchmark.
i have tested with phenom 2 955, intel E8500, FX 8320 and i3 with the same card and the results are pretty much same.. with 0,5FPS difference as max.

its your 860M that is not powerful enough for this. your 30 is pretty good result for that card:
