I want the old classics to be suitable not only for old people with a feeling of nostalgia but also make them interesting again for new generations and a few more additional details in the interface and textures and a few more polygons on the model will go a long way to make this feel "current" again.
Nobody said it has to be unreal engine, nobody says it won't be optimized.
New engine technology brings support for modern hardware and new tricks.
It's not always bad to upgrade , rather the opposite.
Just look at most other EA remakes/remasters or any other big publisher ones. You can draw conclusions from there.
They always just f up. Downgrade compared to original.
Sure...miracles could happen, but i have doubts.

edit: Nightdive Studios can put out great remasters though.

Is that a good sign, neutral sign, or bad sign for people that wanted a Generals Remake with improved graphics?
Naah no need for unoptimized UE5 remake.
Just the old game updated to work great with modern systems and fps caps removed. Thats all we need.

Generals and Zero Hour .. Nice..
Someone can maybe uncap/uncouple the 30 fps cap and the game speed being tied to FPS.
Theres hope!

Thanks EA i guess!

whats going on in this industry. The original game looks great and performs woderfully, whats the point of remaster really.
switching to that unoptimized blurry/smeary UE5 now?

well at least its a DLC with 10 bucks i guess, so its not the worst.

Everything is fake now. Companies are valued on hype. Internet is dead with full of Bots and AI. AI is more valuable than Creativity. Fake AI frames make our GPUs "faster".
