VKD3D-Proton begins work to support DirectX Raytracing on Linux

The offloading to the Tensorcores enables the performanceuplift. If used alongside with raytracing and with disabled Antialiasing it mitigates the performanceloss otherwise introduced by raytracing.

Quoting: tuubiDLSS is more than pure upscaling. It is also very good as a replacement for postprocessing stuff like antialiasing. Nvidia RTX GPU's are processing DLSS with their Tensor Computingcores wich are only present in the RTX GPU'S.Quoting: Purple Library GuyThere's a relatively concise description without too much marketing hype on Wikipedia [External Link].Quoting: ripper81358Good that they are working on this. However the useability of raytracing will fall short on linux as long as DLSS isn't supported as well. Most games use both technologies at the same time to mitigate the huge drop in performance that occurs when raytracing is active. You can take a look at the raytracing Windows benchmarks for AMD's new RX 6000 series to see what happens if DLSS cannot be used alongside raytracing.I've heard DLSS come up a few times before. What is it exactly, and where does it fall in the continuum between "Basic technology" and "clever gimmick"?
Basically it's a clever way to run your game at a lower resolution without losing too much image quality. Often used as a sort of crutch to compensate for the performance impact of stuff like ray tracing, but it does the job, and does look a lot better than more generic methods of upscaling.

This game has an interresting concept and the new content is great. However it is still in early access and seems not to be well optimized on linux. I have tested the game on my System (Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 5700, Kubuntu 20.10 with the lastest stable MESA Drivers) and performance was still all over the place. I experienced a lot of stuttering and input lag while gaming. FPS where reaching from 80 FPS to 44 FPS on 1080p with the high quality preset. As the game does not allow to use exclusive fullscreen FreeSync wont work on linux.
I have tested the game with Vulkan by setting "-force-vulkan" as a startoption in steam. This lead to higher and more stable performance on my system and made the game more playable.

Sadly this game runs very bad on my linux PC. I have massive graphical glitches (flickering) that is caused by the ambient occlusion setting. I have to turn ambient occlusion to "very low" to get rid of the flickering. The other thing i have noticed is a frequent stuttering and sometimes even short hangs while playing. Using Vulkan instead of the OpenGL renderer is not an option anymore as it gives me a nearly black gamemenu and white screens while ingame. The situation might be better for those using an Nvidia GPU with the proprietary Drivers. But at least on my system with an AMD GPU (Radeon RX 5700) and the lates stable MESA Drivers Last Epoch is not an enjoyable experience at the moment. Hopefully the developers will take a closer look at the linuxversion before the game leaves early access.

I finally got the game running with Vulkan enabled on my AMD Radeon RX 5700. I did the following.
1. Upgraded to the latest stable MESA Driver Release 20.1.1
2. Entered the following startoption for the game:
-force-vulkan -gfx-enable-gfx-jobs 0
In addition to that ACO can be enabled. The startoption is as follows:
RADV_PERFTEST=aco %command% -force-vulkan -gfx-enable-gfx-jobs 0
This solves the gamecrash with the RADV Vulkandriver. Using vulkan without ACO enabled removes the textureflickering when ambient occlusion is set above very low. Performance seems to be the same as with OpenGL and the stuttering presists. With ACO enabled the game runs smoother and the occasionally stuttering is gone. However using ACO introduces new weird graphical glitches on my system that appear from time to time.
For now it would be the best if the developers could get the OpenGL Renderer to a point where it delivers a solid and stutterfree performance and ambient occlusion could be enabled without causing textureflickering. Hopefully the developers will have a look at the problems with the AMDGPU+MESA drivers. Vulkansupport might be something that can be added later.

I have tested the game today and i am glad that we have at least one ARPG with great potential as a native linuxversion. However there is a massive graphical glitch. If ambient occlusion is set to anything else than "very low" i get massive textureflickering. The game also produces massive framedrops from time to time that cause stuttering.
Forcing the vulkan api crashes the game on startup at least on my system.
I have tested with Kubuntu 20.04 (Kernel 5.7.3, MESA 20.1.1) with AMD Freesync enabled.

X-Plane 11.50 has a first Beta with Vulkan API support which should improve performance

The thing is that MESA/RADV is basically the standard Vulkandriver for AMD GPU's. AMD's official AMDLVLK and AMDGPU-PRO Drivers are not available or difficult to install on most distributions. In many cases the performance is inferior compared to RADV.
I don't know why we ended up with three different AMD-vulkandrivers for one single OS. Most linuxgames that mention a specific driver have listed MESA/RADV in their systemrequirements. This is the case for all titles from Feral Interactive for example. Not supporting RADV for a linuxgame makes it a unattractive Product for AMD GPU owners at this point in my opinion.

A new Steam Beta is up with Vulkan pipeline dumping and collection along with Steam Play improvements

Does anyone know if "Vulkan pipeline dumping" is working with the Mesa Radv Driver right now ? I have really bad stuttering in most of my games that are utilizing Proton with DXVK since i have switched to an AMD Radeon RX 590. Games using wined3d and therefore the Mesa GL Driver don't have that problem at all.

The game is still not working on my system even with the latest betabuild. I have recently switched to an AMD RX 590 GPU and PA-Titans is the only game that does not work. I don't understand that the systemrequirements of the game are not updated. There is no hint about the fact that the game does not work with the Mesa Driver. I have carefully checked my gamelibrary before doing the switch to AMD for titles that don't work with the new GPU that i intend to buy.Despite my "research" i have found three games that are completely broken. In two cases (Divinity: Orignal Sin Enhanced Edition and Worms W.M.D) i was able to solve the problem with some dirty workaround but PA-Titans still refuses to work.
