Quoting: RossBCFortnight installs EAC, loads semi normally. MediaFoundation problems doesn't like the MFpatch, you can start a game, some times get past lobby area always most definitely crashes when you jump out of the party bus.

Maybe they just checked the box and didn't see if it worked properly. (only seemed to work with staging builds of anything)

Its loads in some type of driver as well, if it can't load it's driver d at startup, had to logout of my linux user and log back in again, was doing a hard reset though to be sure. with non-staging the driver would never load.

Gonna wait this one out till next year, have a feeling there is going to be teething problems.
Thank you for testing this!

Steam Deck dev-kits are on the move Valve say, as some already have it

Quoting: FrawoYes, Steam Machines failed, but I'm still somewhat disappointed that a "pro consumer" company like CDPR/GOG needs financial incentives to do native Linux ports. I always thought they where striving for ideals, but now it looks like they are all about money these days.

Aren't you dissapointed in them, too? I've seen comments from you in their community wishlist.
They didn't stop for financial reasons. They stopoed because people were insulting them after Witcher II wasn't good at Linux release. Which is totally what I expect from a human and humane company: Protect their people from such behaviours. To me, it was the darkest hour of Linux gaming: We're not all nice people, like I'd like to think.
If so, then Marcin Iwinskis comment about getting into Linux ports if Steam Deck succeeds would make no sense.

I think what is hindering them is not the insults, but the Linux market share. They got so much hate for their buggy console releases of Cyberpunk 2077, will that make them stop releasing on consoles? I guess not.

Quoting: ShmerlYou could argue the other side, that Valve's effort with Steam Machines was half baked, lacked marketing push and in practice didn't really succeed as a product. Valve seem to be way more serious about Steam Deck, so the above point that Marcin Iwiński was making is more relevant.

Quoting: ShmerlI think even CDPR CEO said in the past that if Valve will actually make a Linux console, they'll start making native versions. So I'm curious whether this will actually happen or it was empty talk.
Well, Valve already made a Linux console and CDPR did nothing. They have been promising Linux support for Witcher 3 and GOG Galaxy for years now, and still not managed to do so. I don't expect that to change anytime soon... so I don't buy from them.

Steam has turned 18 years old and PC gaming has never been the same since

My first purchase was Half-Life 2 Retail Standard in 2004. Steam says I got it for free... really can't remember.

Ubisoft are keeping an eye on the Steam Deck, will release on it if it's big enough

Quoting: MichaelDNThey are a cancer to gaming and have killed all progressive companies, buying up small companies and churning out sequel after sequel of garbage.

Ohh look FAr CrY 5, 6, 7, 8 this one has a hang-glider! The next one has a really bad guy ohh nooo better save another $100 for the slightly different ""NeXt GeN!!!11!!"" game.
Just look what those "creative" minds are about to do with the Tom Clancy series:

Quoting: KohlyKohlI've had this installed on my Thelio for a few weeks and it is so much better than Dash to Panel. I haven't had it crash once and it feels like it is actually part of the DE.
Hmmm, I have been using Dash-To-Panel in my Pop!_OS 20.10 installation all the time, never had a problem with it. I like it's customizability and it even works in a dual monitor setup (with a panel on each monitor).
Out of curiosity, what is better about the new dock?

The only reason I did not update to 21.04 instantly is that I'm not sure if Dash-To-Panel will still work.

This is super cool, I have always been missing the AUR in other distributions. Would be perfect if they also add something like pamac as well...

Quoting: EikeJust to make sure, I install every new game and start it up.
(That's also useful to make sure it actually runs.)
Done this for the last game I bought. Others were to old, unfortunately...

Quoting: Liam DaweTo clear it up we have the info on the Steam Tracker:
When buying games from Steam, how is the desktop platform counted? From what Valve told us (February 2020), they first take the desktop Steam client platform used to buy it, then whatever has the most playtime in two weeks. However, Android and Web Browser purchases default to Windows and then what has the most playtime in two weeks. If you want to ensure developers see a Linux sale: play it only on Linux in the first two weeks, don't buy it and leave it.
Oh no, Web Browsers default to Windows? I didn't know that and now my pile of shame mostly consists of Web Browser purchases. Damn...
