Heroic Games Launcher for Epic Games appears popular with over 100K downloads

Quoting: Lofty. do you have to run a separate client among the Heroic launcher to play games from the EA store ? i.e Heroic downloads the game but then installs the actual client in wine?
If I remember correctly heroic doesn't support origin. When you grab a EA gale it'll show up on your origin account, and you need to install origin on your own ( which is, in my case at least, a painfully experience )
Yes, I grabbed Battlefront 2 while it was free on Epic, but the game didn't even show up in Heroic.

Quoting: tofuheadcan you run Dishonored 2 just fine in Proton? because I have weird problems with mouse look and been waiting for a Proton version that would fix it.. (I've tried so many wines and protons..)

the problem is, mouse look sometimes get stuck.. laggy.. cannot turn, or it jumps. I read somewhere it has maybe something to do with fps lock or something, don't know. it's a shame, since I really liked the first game, and been anxious to play this one but haven't gotten very far as it's very frustrating..
I think I had the same problem, so I uninstalled the game. Will definitly have a look at it again when the issue is fixed.

On ProtonDB, someone recently suggested running the game with Proton-6.9-GE-2 and some extra tweaks, have you tried that?

I would recommend Prey, too. I'm halfway through the game, it runs flawlessly with Proton. Great story and gameplay!

No.
That is not an option for me either! Not anymore, with all the comfort we now have to play Windows games in Linux.

Quoting: HolzkohlenWow, some of you actually complain about Linux becoming more user-friendly. How have you not outgrown this edginess? I was like that as a teenager. I cringe hard thinking back on that time. Maybe you should try something more obscure than linux eh? Have you heard about the anti-mainstream super edgy OpenBSD? No apt nor discover you need to worry about. And I guarantee that Linus won't even consider using that ever. How does that sound?
I've seen so many of my Linux friends switching back to Windows because of issues like this. And I would have too if I wasn't such a stubborn idealist on this. So, is this the way to go, Linux staying in it's quit niche, not ever being noticed by the game industry, because you are simply not able to install Steam on one of the most popular Linux distribution?

And in the next thread we as Linux users are crying again for market share and more attention in general... how does that fit?

Kingdom Come: Deliverance gets shown off on the Steam Deck

Yeah... kind of! ;)

While I agree with you for the most part, I wouldn't throw such harsh words at the developers. They still have to make a living out of what they do, so it is OK for me if they ensure proper Proton support (which is - in my experience - anyway better than most of the Linux Natives I have played so far).

Quoting: Alm888Personally I think there is a hole in this logic: why developers should take Linux into account if Linux gamers are demonstrating that releasing Windows-exclusive games is not only tolerated, but desirable (some say they'd rather have a Proton-compatible game than be left with unmaintained subpar "Linux port") action and the developers are not losing any money by doing so.
How would you demonstrate that by not buying the game? At the current numbers of gamers that only play native Linux games they won't even recognize you, and they certainly don't loose any money by doing so. For me, buying a windows game and playing it on Linux to make it count as a Linux sale would possibly help more.

But that is just my personal stance... In the end, I just want to play games on Linux, no matter if it is Windows or Linux native.

Looks like Valve sent out quite a lot of Steam Deck developer kits

I think I will try Fallout 4 as one of the first games, too. Gyro controls on the Dualshock 4 controller where a pain to set up for this game. There is an official control scheme, but it is useless, as I couldn't find a way to disable the analog stick acceleration. So I had to remap everything to mouse/keyboard.

I really do hope that many developers put out new/reworked controller schemes that are better aimed at gyro controls. Or at least give us an option to disable stick acceleration.

Quoting: Avehicle7887GOG has been straying off from the beaten path for some time already. Cyberpunk's Galaxy requirement to install some skins is also a crappy move and I will never buy it unless they change it.
To me, it's like buisnessmen have taken over the company, blindly sticking their "DRM-Free" label on every game, no matter if it fits. They are all about money these days... not even embarrassed to sell Epic games.
