Valve's card game 'Artifact' will be on Source 2, it's not free to play and will release this year

Yeah... I really am not into card games myself, so VALVe or not, I am going to pass this one ;)

Nice to see them going back into the game, though.

Oh, I was expecting to find some some puns here given the title :(

The Majesty of Colors Remastered is a very short game about being monster from the depths

I had this feeling of déjà vu: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/classic-flash-game-the-majesty-of-colors-is-being-remastered-and-will-release-on-linux.8144

The game looks nice, but I am used to get a lot of content, even at such a low price point, and given that I don't play that much anymore, I probably won't pick up this one before a sale.

It's nice they are doing a remaster, though. There would definitely be some great value to a bundle of curated flash games remakes :)

Other great former flash games include n++, the binding of Isaac, super meat boy, etc.

Vulkan can now run on Mac as MoltenVK is now open source

I had no time to read the press releases, but Arstechnica mentioned the fact that the same was happening for vulkan over DX12, which would open up the Xbox and Microsoft Store to Vulkan as well.

Edit: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2018/02/vulkan-is-coming-to-macos-ios-but-no-thanks-to-apple/ [External Link]
The portable subset will also soon be able to target another platform: DirectX 12. Expected within the next few months, a similar translation layer is being developed that will enable Vulkan applications to use a DirectX 12 back-end. While Windows, unlike macOS, does have Vulkan drivers from GPU companies, applications sold through the Microsoft Store are only permitted to use DirectX. Already today, some Store applications use ANGLE—an implementation of OpenGL ES that runs on top of DirectX—so that their developers can use a cross-platform graphics API. The Vulkan layer will enable the same for software that uses the high performance, low-level GPU API.
And from the press release:
The Khronos Vulkan Portability Initiative continues to refine and define a universally portable subset of Vulkan 1.0 that can be run at native performance levels over Metal and DirectX 12 drivers.
The Vulkan Portability Initiative will continue to strengthen the infrastructure and tooling around bringing Vulkan capabilities to multiple Metal and DX12 platforms - our long-term goal is to enable portable Vulkan code to be executed on any platform that developers care about.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus announced with Linux support, due in 'late 2018'

Quoting: GuestIt is W40k. That's basically a strategy setting overall - and most (not all, of course) of the games that GW license out are turn-based as well. I suspect it's to align with the board gaming. So it's not surprising that a GW licensed game is turn-based strategy.

It is nice to see something from a different perspective of sorts: an Admech game could be quite interesting.
I would like to see a spacemarine port as well at some point, maybe a wine port of sorts, but I'd like to be able to finish this game!

Surviving Mars now has another trailer and pre-orders open up with three different editions

Well, I'm not going to break my preorder policy for this one! And, to be honest, it sounds fun, but it looks like there are just *too many* fantasist elements for me to like the game. My opinion might change after launch, of course.

Also... Is that a steam notification sound at 1:21 [External Link]? :P It made me triple-check that I didn't have steam already open.

Open source game engine 'Godot Engine' has a second 3.0 release candidate

Hopefully they will be able to use Liberapay for donations as well, they said they would discuss it at FOSDEM with SPI.

I love what they are doing, this is one of the most promising projects right now, IMO.

CRYENGINE to get improved Linux support

However, that's only for getting your game onto the platform[...]
Like there would be any Linux game, based on the CryEngine, at all, right? SNOW had initial Linux support, but it was so broken, that the developers cancelled it and pulled the Linux client back. We should get Homefront: The Revolution, but that's cancelled too. Any other CryEngine game for Linux out there?

Edit: although that's Lubmberyard IIRC. Maybe count Star citizen as well.

SteamOS has a fresh beta update with some major package updates

Quoting: dubigrasuBut when I feel like gaming, then I just fire in a couple of seconds my SteamOS, get the SteamController in hands and here I go. This is where SteamOS perfectly fits.
I already forgot, but this sentence is one of the reasons I didn't decide to buy Alienware Steam Machine.

Currently with PS4, I sit on the couch, take Dualshock that was laying on the couch, press button on the gamepad and console is waking up.

With Steam Machine / PC with SteamOS on it the order is different: You need to go to the machine, press power button and then go to the couch and wake up the controller.

For me kind of bummer.
Are you sure, though? I think that the dongles are capable of USB wake-up, whatever that means, if enabled in the BIOS. A quick search leads me to think that it is possible at least on the Zotac NEN, but the feature might only work from S3/S1 resume (more research/testing needed)
