I love this era of graphics/gaming, so I'm going to have to be all over this one.
I know there's Hotshot Racing, but that never got the racing part right - too much rubber banding to be enjoyable. Horizon Turbo Chase, despite being different, I did enjoy quite a bit.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention - I'll definitely want to give the demo a go.

GOG finally remove the false "in progress" note about GOG Galaxy for Linux

While I'm certainly disappointed that development has almost certainly ended, I'm not surprised. Frankly, I wouldn't care at all about most of the features of Galaxy if Lutris/Heroic/miniGalaxy could get cloud saves to work. That's literally the only feature the client offers that I consider something I will strongly miss. I do sort of enjoy having hours played and achievements (mostly just as timestamps - kind of interesting to look back years later to reminisce about a game), but if they disappeared, I could move on.
I am hopeful a solution will be found so I don't have to manually set up Syncthing for games. GOG will still remain my preferred source to buy games.

The change in keyboard will be nice.
Unfortunately, I think I'm going to sell my Steam Deck. It's a nice piece of kit if it's your first/only handled PC. But I already own a GPD Win Max and am more interested in the Win Max 2. I prefer the screen being higher up than the controls vs the slab of the SD. The other thing is that for older games (which I'm more likely to play on such a device), total game time on a single charge is about the same. The Win Max uses more power but also has a larger battery to compensate. So I'm not really gaining much unless playing a newer game.
The only drawback to the Win Max is Windows, but that's a very fixable issue.

If they merely said that the Steam Deck wasn't a supported platform, I'd just kind of shrug my shoulders regarding the situation and move on. While I hope the Steam Deck is massively successful as it will support the growth of Linux, I can't really fault devs for being unwilling to support something through Proton.
But it's exceptionally bizarre that they flat out state that it doesn't run on the Steam Deck. Maybe it's to head off potential refunds, but I don't know why you'd go out of your way to make that statement.

Great video and very useful as someone who has never used it.
I only wish we could have seen power consumption on MW when out in the open world with the framerate capped. The brief clip in the ship with the overlay had it at 14w with a high framerate, but I hope it's sub-10w with the cap on.

It seems strange to me that Valve is validating all of these non-native games but seems to be skipping right over all the native ones. Certainly it would be faster to verify/mark playable native games, given that there's no need to be concerned with a game breaking.
/tin foil hat on
Sort of makes me think Valve would prefer developers to make games for Windows that just target a Proton version rather than encourage native development.

I'm happy to report the Star Trek game (delisted, but it's a third person shooter from the PS3/360 generation) now works correctly. Before it would only work through Winesteam to get around CEG. The first experimental release with CEG support didn't work, but it looks like the most recent update fixed it.
I should probably try a few more CEG games I have in the library, but Star Trek was the one I really wanted working. It's not great, but it is more Star Trek.

I can really appreciate GOG helping bring back old games. The LoK series is one that I've really wanted to get into due to the fantastic voice acting, but I can never seem to get into the gameplay.
Still, it's nice that now the complete series is available digitally on PC for anyone who wants to. Having played Soul Reaver 1 and part of 2, seriously, there is some great dialogue in those games.

I too would prefer an AMD option. At least the 1165G7 and its iGPU are not really slouches at all.
However, seeing as my laptop is starting to get rather up there in age (heading towards 4 years), this is mighty tempting. The thing still works great, but a 6lb, 15.6" laptop (with fairly thick bezels) really isn't one that you want to take to different rooms of the house. So it ends up being a pretty stationary device.
Maybe I should wait for one more refresh of the device...

I'll have to try this out later. In the past few days, Steam on my Opensuse Tumbleweed install has been just a little wonky. With any luck, the beta will clear that up.
