STAR WARS Jedi: Survivor had a very rough launch
29 Apr 2023 at 7:00 am UTC

I loved Fallen Order and was excited for this one, but releasing it in this state is a f you to all customers especially at 70€. Not gonna buy it until it's on sale and got a few performance patches.

Here's the winners of the 2022 Steam Awards

I think way more confusing than "Death Stranding Director's Cut" ist "Hitman 3" as the VR Game of the Year. It's a really horrible VR port that shouldn't exist in it's current form. Although I think both got voted for by people who don't have VR or a Steam Deck and people picked the IP they liked the best or in case of VR known at all.

Intel working on new Xe graphics driver for Linux

I really hope they don't kill the Arc GPUs. Intels patents and money makes them one of the few companies that are able to enter the GPU market and compete within it. I don't see any other company on the horizon that would or could enter the desktop GPU market with their own IP.

Immortals Fenyx Rising now on Steam but quite messy on Steam Deck

These launchers are horrible. Ubisoft connect is at least useable with a controller, but why do I need to relogin every now and then? How do I access a Passwort-Manager in gaming mode without being a horrible experience.
I think launchers should disqualify for deck verified in general.

Frankly, you don't *need* to buy a 'legimate' Windows license to install that operating system. It runs okay without a license and it seems Microsoft is okay letting you use it 'trial-like' until you get around to purchasing your license. They're probably happy enough collecting and selling your telemetry data than not having you using their OS at all.
It's a joke. Even the idea to have to use another OS to upgrade an accessory is absurd.

I told u so!

Btw @Liam you might want to add a notice that you can rescue most of the savegames via Google takeout: takeout.google.com

Some savegames will be incompatible because (Stadia exclusive) Linux versions vs. Windows builds, but most will probably work fine.

Unfortunately, there is a catch. Their firmware update is only designed for Windows.
wtf. Imagine building a product targeted at a Linux PC and not even supporting firmware upgrades on it. The people who are building this aren't even thinking about the steam deck outside of gaming mode.
In that connection, this "Linux Vendor Firmware Service" Liam linked to seems kind of interesting . . . well, I mean, finding out much more about it would probably actually bore my socks off, but just taking a brief look at its existence and thinking about why that would be opened my eyes to some implications of how Linux, hardware vendors and firmware would have to interact.
My ThinkPad got official support for LVFS when it was more than a year on the market. It's really great! Firmware upgrades of the uefi, fingerprint sensor, ... just work like regular updates via cli or integrated into the gui software center. It's really amazing.

KDE are raising funds for the Kdenlive video editor

Quoting: mr-victoryI tried KDEnLive in the past (maybe 1 yr ago) and had problems with basic functionality. Perhaps I didn't understand how to use, and I used OpenShot even if it barely worked in my case with frequent crashes. I should take another look at KDEnLive when I need video editing again.
It was really yanky a couple of years ago. It has improved by a huge amount and is now very useable.
