Wow the game feels a lot smoother compared to the windows version under proton. (I'm below minimum spec tho)

Valve drops support for SteamVR on macOS to focus on Linux & Windows

Seems odd to see such a big shift announced so abruptly, with no other reasoning.
I don't think that this was abruptly. The Index never listed MacOS as an official platform and indicated therefore a MacOS drop for months. The reason they support linux as much as they do is to get away from Windows getting more restrictive and Apple walled-garden like. Proton also does not officially support MacOS, making it a significantly worse choice for VR gaming than Linux. Apples decision to not support Vulkan was the nail in the coffin imho.

New SteamVR Beta has some essential Half-Life: Alyx fixes for Linux

The SteamVR beta didn't fixed the crashes on loading screens for me. That said, I could finish the whole game with the workarounds mentioned in the Half-Life:Alyx issue on the SteamVR/proton issue tracker. And it's the best game I have ever played. Performance was not perfect but overall pretty good (and I'm under minimum spec and using Proton + ferals gamemode)
I really hope the vulkan version is not far away. It would also be very great to have a Linux build of Hammer 2.

Hmm, that's promising.
Maybe we'll see Alyx get an unannounced beta release on Linux too?

Crap communication nevertheless, though.
Valve fixed it today. Sadly no news on Linux support for Alyx.

Psyonix are ending support for Rocket League on both Linux and macOS (updated)

Quoting: lectrode
Quoting: razing32Are you guys getting your DLC refunded as well ? Or just base game ?
Just curios.
In their 2nd statement [External Link], Psyonix states:
If you play Rocket League on macOS or Linux and want a refund for the base game, please follow these steps
Notice "base game". The post says nothing about DLC or other purchases. It does not look like they are refunding DLC.
My request for the main game got denied (I clicked the refund option and added an explanation).
However, when I clicked on "I have a question about this purchase" on one of the DLC purchases and explained the situation there, Valve refunded all DLCs and the base game for me.

Steam reportedly coming to Chrome OS - Linux gaming across even more devices
17 Jan 2020 at 5:35 pm UTC

One point the article misses (or I have missed reading it) is that Steam has In-Home streaming. There are people already using that to game on lower end laptop's in a different room (or on mobile on the go). From what it seems valve is creating a cloud gaming service that uses the hardware and the licenses the people already own. (although upload speeds and latency are a big issue) The remote play together feature does exactly this at the moment (without one player even needing a license of the game or a pc capable of that game).

Reminder: Update your PC info for the next round of statistics updates

Quoting: jrtI think the PC info should include if you use a VR headset under GNU/Linux and the model, just like with the gamepad.
Done, added.

If you want more options let me know and I will add them in.
Awesome!
