Question: If you knew Optimus would be a problem, why did you get the laptop?
Liam Dawe Oct 16, 2011
It never listed Optimus like anywhere and i didn't know until turning it on...then i couldn't take it back for a refund = screwed, so right now i am not using Linux and considering my position as site admin.

Ah, okay, that does suck pretty hard. I guess maybe next time just shop from a Linux specific vendor? Or do as I do and always go with AMD... (and let the flame war begin!)
Liam Dawe Oct 16, 2011
Finding a Linux specific vendor in the UK is near impossible, any that do offer VERY limited options.

Yeah my next buy after this notebook will most likely be an AMD fusion laptop since they will be perfectly supported. Just the current crop didn't have the performance i wanted.

btw, did you check out: https://features.opensuse.org/312901 (explination and link to bumblebee) for your Optimus chipset ?

Yeah running it at the moment and it does work really well :)
