If this seems like a bit of Déjà vu you would be right, as both Steam and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive have repeatedly smashed user records lately.

Back in February and again earlier this month, both of them smashed one concurrent user record after another. Around 18 hours ago, Steam broke through the all-time peak record again hitting 22,678,529 online with over 7 million in-game at the time. Not long after that happened, CS:GO broke it's own concurrent user record online with 1,102,067.

It's probably quite safe to say now a lot of this is due to the Coronavirus, as many more people are being forced to stay home (and so plenty playing games).

Meanwhile recently Valve put out their monthly Top Releases post, so here's a quick look over them. One of the big things about this month is Early Access, with plenty either entering or leaving.

Here's the most popular February Steam releases, with Linux supported titles highlighted:

For the top free releases:

  1. Dota Underlords
  2. Moe Era
  3. RISK: Global Domination
  4. I Wanna Maker
  5. 绝望监牢 / 絶望プリズン

So out of 25 total listed, 8 have Linux support. That's actually one of the better months, some there's been months where there's only one or zero and it shows how smaller and indie developers continue to give us a lot of what we have. Sadly, the developer of Wolcen has not responded to a few requests to learn about their plans for Linux as it was a platform listed on their Kickstarter.

Anyone else noticing the pr0n titles slowly creeping in on these charts? I think this is a big change in the gaming world. Some said the internet was created for pr0n... It might be an exaggeration, but I think it is a force to be reckoned with.

the pandemia is a disaster but on the positive side maybe ppl get more paranoid and start using Linux... don't know if we should really celebrate that thing at this point.
