The Falconeer takes flight with a Linux version out ready for Steam Deck

By - | Views: 14,610

For people on the lookout for more native Linux games, developer Tomas Sala recently delivered The Falconeer. The developer decided to do a native port, as they wanted the experience to be as good as possible for the Steam Deck.

You take on the role of Falconeer, a powerful airborne warrior traversing a vast oceanic world torn apart by generations of poisonous decisions and dissent. Throughout multiple campaigns, you will experience life from many different perspectives and loyalties as you embark on a journey of discovery, and solve the mystery of the Ursee, its people and history. Check out the trailer below:

The price difference between Humble and Steam is a bit silly. But doing a native port for the Steam deck and Linux is definitely something I want to support.

It's also kind of silly that on Humble the base game is exactly the same price as the "Warrior Edition" bundle with the OST and the two content DLC. But of course both editions are much cheaper on Steam with the discount.

A quick look at steamdb reveals that the price of the game was reduced back in August from 30 euro to 20 euro, so Humble probably still has the old price.

It also reveals that the DLC, which are not available for Linux according to the store, have no depots. This means that everything must already be included in the base game download. This might mean that they are available they simply forgot to update the store. No way to be sure unless you try though.

Asking the developer might be an option. How about it Liam?

I'm getting Panzer Dragoon vibes from the trailer, and that is a good thing

Hopefully they won't stop there and release the Linux version on GOG too.

That's what I like to hear and what I hope becomes a trend. Seems like an interesting game too; picked it up from this news and gave it a few minutes before work this morning and it seems solid so far.

The game looks like it would simply be fun to be in.

I think it might be a rare case of a Stadia version leading to a Linux version on Steam?
