Xbox Games Studios talk up more of their games on Steam Deck

By - | Views: 23,329

Still a little weird to see but Xbox Games Studios have talked about more of their games running on Steam Deck, a system powered by Linux. Not the first time they've done this and likely won't be the last, heck they even showed how to get Xbox Cloud Gaming running.

Deck Verified

  • Fable Anniversary
  • Halo Wars: Definitive Edition
  • Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition
  • Killer Instinct
  • Kalimba
  • Halo: Spartan Strike
  • RUSH: A Disney - PIXAR Adventure

Deck Playable

  • Minecraft Dungeons
  • Gears Tactics
  • Deadlight
  • Halo: Spartan Assault

Here's a video of how Minecraft Dungeons runs on Steam Deck:

An important note: while Valve has given Minecraft Dungeons a Playable rating, there's an issue where it can freeze when you complete a mission and get to open a chest. Luckily, reloading still gives you the chest. I've seen this on a Linux Desktop and on Steam Deck. Seems this bug was reported previously.

While no doubt some other reporters will claim Microsoft has suddenly made them compatible or available, let's keep things grounded. Microsoft and Xbox Game Studios here actually did, well, not much really (apart from set some default settings perhaps). All of this is thanks to Valve's work and funding for the Proton compatibility layer to run Windows games on Linux. Regardless, it's fun to see XGS talk about the Steam Deck in a positive way.

So why aren't they enabling Wine support on Halo MCC (EAC)? Also why is their Arbiter anti-cheat not Wine compatible? And why isn't Game Pass on Steam? Come on Microsoft.

Hello, have you managed to launch Minecraft: Dungeons from the mojang launcher? (launcher.mojang.com/download/MinecraftInstaller.msi). I can't do it

Bonjour, vous avez réussi a lancer Minecraft: Dungeons depuis le launcher de mojang ? (launcher.mojang.com/download/MinecraftInstaller.msi). je n'y arrive pas

It doesn't work from there which sadly means you need to buy it again on steam

I managed to make it work with Proton-GE, but the game flickers because of the many windows that open

J'ai réussi a le faire fonctionner avec Proton-GE, mais le jeu clignote a cause des nombreuse fenêtres qui s'ouvrent

My experience with Minecraft Dungeons. As I bought it the status for Steamdeck was "Verified", but now it's back to "Playable".

But it has issues:
- Introvideo is not playing on Linux/Proton
- Graphical Glitches
- Game crashes in Multiplayer
- Gamepad (XBox 360) isn't working well
- Microsoft Account required

On top of it the Support of Microsoft sucks. At first the locking your account. Without giving you a reason. Nothing! If you open a ticket with an locked account, which isn't easy, because the Account is locked *faceplam* Then they are starting pointing fingers between Microsoft Divisions, who is responsible for this, but not solving the problem!

Was it for playing on Linux/Proton? No idea!

They are just talking about some "unusual" behavior, but don't telling what it was.

In Short: Don't buy from Microsoft/Mojang/XBox Game Studios!
