Minecraft 1.19 - The Wild Update is out now. Not only that, all owners now get both Java & Bedrock together as they've been merged into a single purchase.

Not that it particularly matters to Linux players, since Microsoft / Mojang still have no plans to bring the Bedrock version to Linux but still good as a whole to see. They will remain as two separate editions but now you always get both.

Anyway, The Wild Update! It's here! Trailer below:

There's plenty of tweaks to existing features too. See the full update notes for more.

Quoting: KristianSurely Microsoft has the redources to add all of the Java version festures to Bedrock right? So the missing features are hardly a guarantee of them keeping the Java version, right?

Even if they tried, it would probably take them a decade to parity the features that are foundational to their biggest audiences. Hardcore mode, speedrunning, community modded... they said it's going to take another year just to get spectator mode in to Bedrock, and that's only one element they're missing to make Hardcore possible. Parity for speedrunners would require altering most of Bedrock's main gameplay mechanics. It's not just mirroring features, but how those features work that make the most popular Minecraft play styles possible. They've refused to mirror those mechanics so far, sooo...

If they did threaten to discontinue Java, the broader community would raise such a fuss that it wouldn't happen. The Linux community might not have much sway with developers, but such a large majority of Mojang's player base? They would completely tank without them.

It sounds like you're in the habit of fearing things and therefore trying to find something to be cynical of here when there isn't any reason to. No reason to spread that FUD.

Quoting: sternschnupfenShame that I cant play because Microsoft wants me to give them a phone number for "security purposes". Not even MY phone number they say I only need one to login, it can be any. And "of course" it will not be saved into my account. This data hoarding needs to stop.
Thanks for the heads up. I was almost about to budge...
I haven't touched Minecraft since Microsoft took over, and I guess with that, it's definitely over. I might have justified migrating to an MS account before myself, but not if it involves giving them anyone's personal information :F
It was bad enough they got to see from where, on what servers, and when and for how long one plays when it was just Mojang, but f if it's MS.

Sadly none of the alternatives are really where MC is at, or even was at the time. Oh well.

What do you mean? Do you get asked for it at the account creation or you are asked after the account was locked? From me they only asked for an email address, a password and a gamertag. Nothing else! There is no name, address or phone number in my profile.

I migrated one of my few minecraft accounts as a test balloon and as expected they locked it after two days! Why? They don't tell. Meanwhile I feel mobbed and discriminated (guessing playing on Linux is maybe the reason for this) by Microsoft. They are not helping at all! Just keep dodging!

On top of it they wont accept my phone number but also wont tell me the reason for it. If I enter my number into their form then I only get the error: We can not send a text message to this number. WHAT THE HELL?!?! Everyone else can send me a text message, only Microsoft can not? Wow! So professional! So Microsoft! *facepalm*

There is another alternative and if Microsoft keeps going this way and not telling me why they locked my account then I might consider taking it and remove the whole authentication bullshit from the game.
