DREAMM is a special emulator for playing lots of classic LucasArts, Lucasfilm, and Lucas Learning games with a major new 4.0 release available.

It supports games like Star Wars Episode I: Racer, Star Wars: X-Wing and TIE Fighter, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Maniac Mansion and many more.

What's new in this release:

  • New games. As usual, a new version DREAMM means you can run more stuff including:
    • All eight released Lucas Learning games
    • Six new late-90s Star Wars titles
    • Two new licensed games: Monopoly Star Wars and Willow
  • Direct3D 11. Windows systems now talk directly to Direct3D 11 for rendering on modern systems.
  • Roland SoundCanvas (NC-55). Get high-quality MIDI playback thanks to the Nuked SC-55 emulator. (Requires ROM files.)
  • Networking. Netplay is experimentally supported on all games that can do it, both DirectPlay and Windows Sockets.
  • Automated Copy Protection. DREAMM can now optionally auto-solve your protection.
  • Improved Controller Support. SDL’s game controller interface is now used to allow more flexible controller mapping.

Plus some improvements to the frontend interface:

  • New Visuals. New icons by Jan Hofmeister for a more consistent look.
  • Streamlined Interface. Now focused on selecting and launching, with other items moved to popup menus.
  • Filtering. The Game Manager now features the ability to filter by name or category.
  • Game Defaults. Default audio and video features can now be set and apply to games unless overridden.
  • 7-zip Archives. DREAMM can now extract files from 7-zip archives, along with some more esoteric formats.

It's not currently open source but the developer still says they plan to open source some of it eventually. They also state there's no AI generated code involved as they're "an AI-hater, and will never intentionally use any AI-generated or written code in DREAMM".

What system is it emulating?

Are they, again, abusing the world 'emulator' when in fact DREAMM is an engine reimplementation.

Genuine question. They don't really detail much on their site.

" "an AI-hater, and will never intentionally use any AI-generated or written code in DREAMM"."
