After running an opt-in Beta for a while, Mega Crit have released the first major gameplay content update for the deck-builder Slay the Spire 2. In other recent news, the developer recently increased their support for Godot Engine directly.
The Beta and update launch has been a bit turbulent for the developer, as they ended up receiving a user review-bomb on Steam in March for the Beta and again now with the update release. Most of them seem to be coming from Chinese players, complaining about balancing changes. Something that feels a bit silly for a completely unfinished game that naturally won't have a lot of cards properly sorted to fit in fully just yet.

As for the update - what's actually new? There's plenty of balancing work of course across the game, as the developer said in the announcement "many things that you've grown used to have been re-balanced, reworked, or even removed (in a couple rare cases)". They've tweaked shop relic prices, improved map generation, Ironclad got a new card, there's a bunch of new artwork to replace placeholders, a new Badges system shown at the end of a run for little reminders on how you did, a revamp of leaderboards, writing improvements to make things more clear and lots of bug fixes.
Overall, a really good update for an already great sequel. I'm thoroughly looking forward to seeing them continue to expand it and to see their continued success with it.
But I understand the change. The game is ultimately a roguelike. The random unpredictability is part of it.
Quoting: inlinuxdudeSTS2 is great already (and getting better all the time)...Not sure why Chinese players don't understand its early access and still being worked on... :(It seems many players from China are complaining because their deck no longer guarantees a win, so now they have to change their strategy to win. A common thread among all the negative reviews is that the cards that used to be very overpowered have now been nerfed, with one review even asking the developers to "livestream themselves winning the game on the highest difficulty with all the characters" (disclaimer: I do not know Chinese, so I used Google Translate for that one).
