It worked with the steam-native thing, but not everyone knows that's a thing and being broken by default isn't good.
I reported it in these related issues:

Other titles like APICO noted above were affected too, and probably multiple others.
Which led to this:

In less than 24 hours since the report, they commited a fix and so it will be coming to Arch updates soon so that it will all work out the box again. Gosh, I love FOSS.
