I am sorry because that's probably not the answer you expected, but that post helped me and it may help others. There's a lot of obsolete information about xboxdrv around that causes confusion.
I don't own an xbox gamepad, so I was looking for the remap features. Now I'm using the SDL2 Gamepad Tool, with pretty good results so far.
