Epic acquires Bandcamp

I’m gutted. Bandcamp was the only place I could buy music without DRM and knowing that the artists were in control and getting most of the revenue. They say nothing will change, as always, but I don’t look forward to them invading user privacy and I sure don’t want to hand them any money.

It was already hard enough to get some artists to sell anywhere outside of Apple and Amazon, I don’t know where else to turn

I like Bandcamp and this doesn't look like a good development. Epic is a bad company.

Ohh damn :( I have my old music up there. It was nice place to release your stuff. Well hopefully they wont change it much, but yeah its Epic and well Tencent so :(

They always say that nothing will change. RIP Bandcamp.

Of course there is always a solution that can never be bought out 🏴‍☠️🦜🏴‍☠️🦜🏴‍☠️🦜

Im not sure how this will change things but recently i bought a large catalogue of music from a list i had been building, im glad i did this before the inevitable happens and Epic changes the service for the worst.

i wonder if a new service similar to bandcamp will pop up or if valve will increase their music services and allow for indie music creators to sell on their platform much like indie game devs can, after all steam is just a giant media sharing platform of sorts.
