Quoting: wojtek88Is it a mandatory military service or are you the army men by choice?
Mandatory service with an option of serving without a gun or doing civilian service (basically just working for a lowered salary for a year).

Quoting: GuestI've read some bad reviews of the Steam Controller. Has it been updated since and would anyone recommend it? Or should I wait until they release a new version some day?
I don't really need it at this time, I'm just thinking of playing around with it a bit.

I just bought a 2nd (including a steamlink) ... what "issues" are you referring to? I've been heavily playing games on this controller since it was released, and so far never had a single issue.

The things which were annoying was the udev rule in linux etc, but that's no issue in pretty much any newer kernel.

For my personal use (couch and desk player), I can very highly recommend it. Especially because not being as small as other controllers (better in hand). Well, so to say, has a reason why I bought a 2nd.

Why would you say that?

Linux is all about choice. Why do you want to take the choice away from the people who game on Macs?

In the Netherlands there's voices for a Nexit, in Denmark there may be a Dexit. So Samsai, is your country working towards a Sexit? :D

Quoting: dmantioneIt does that if you have configured Steam to show Windows games on the front page. If you tell it to show only Linux games, your queue will also contain only Linux games.

So where's the setting to change this?

Normally on the border of the highlight area on the frontpage. But since the store does not show its normal frontpage during the sale, the setting is not there at the moment.

In Case of Emergency, Release Raptor is releasing on 5th of July
By Nanobang, 24 June 2016 at 12:03 pm UTC

I once struck up a conversation with a stranger in a GameStop a few years back, and I happened to mention my then drop-dead favorite game of all time was Saint's Row 2. He almost physically recoiled. He said, "I hate that game! It's so unrealistic, so silly. I don't get it."

So I asked him what sort of games did he like?

"Sports games, mostly. Some racing games. I just don't see the point to unrealistic games like Saint's Row."

When I saw that there was a game set on a space station entitled Release the Raptors, I literally laughed out loud and immediately added it to my wishlist. It's clearly not a game for everyone, but it's a game for me, so I'm thrilled to hear it's coming out as soon as July 5th.

I love "silly and pointless."

I expect I'll love Release the Raptors :D

Good luck! You'll do fine if you just do what you're told and keep your head down. In other words: Leave your brain at home, you'll do better without it.

I don't really need it at this time, I'm just thinking of playing around with it a bit.

Most of the negative review that I've read just talk about the durability, and I honestly have no idea what they're talking about. Mine has gotten heavy use since December and is still working perfectly. I highly recommend it. Being able to play Civilization V and other mouse-only games easily from the couch is worth the price alone.

There are some additional tombs to raid, but the rest is cosmetic/multiplayer stuff, iirc.

First Brexit and now the GOLEXIT, my world today has been crushed. Send help.

In all seriousness, Sami, I wish you all the best and as he said it is not a goodbye from him at all. Still sad, as he is my trusted right hand.

GOL will continue on as normal and I will do the Friday livestream. Hopefully Samsai can join in on a few once he is more settled!

Quoting: Mountain ManParadox games don't have a learning curve, it's more of a learning cliff, but once you figure them out, they're terrific games. Unfortunately, Paradox has generally been terrible at explaining how to play their own games, but they're getting better! Each of their more recent games now has a comprehensive Wiki page that makes the learning process much easier than it used to be. Here's the one for Crusader Kings II:

http://www.ckiiwiki.com/Crusader_Kings_II_Wiki

I own Crusader Kings II, Europa Universalis IV, Stellaris, and Hearts of Iron IV, and any one of them can easily steal hours of my time.

Thanks Mountain Man! Didn't actually know about the wikis. I'll have to give it another go with wiki assistance. Maybe it can help me overcome my puny brain.

That's not a great attitude. I look forward to a day that each game is released to Windows/Mac/Linux. My dream come true is situation when all games in Steam has all those 3 logos (and not because of other titles removal, but because all titles receive such a ports/support)

I just wish Apple would get on board with Vulkan over Metal. I'd hate to see a situation where Vulkan is looked at as the API to use only if you plan Linux support (even though games like Doom seem to prove its worthy to use even without planning multiplat support).

It'd be nice to see Vulkan become the de facto multiplatform solution for all things PC / Mobile. If Apple stubbornly pushes for Metal and refuses to use new iterations of OpenGL I can only hope they become irrelevant for the sake of Vulkan adoption.

Obviously it'd be nice if all games worked regardless of OS, but I'd rather the quality of ports not be hamstrung by Mac's outdated tools.

Not a developer so take that opinion with a large grain of salt as I'm speaking from ignorance.

Quoting: HoriI'm so gonna buy the Steam Controller now that I started working and got paid. There was already a sale for it at the beginning of this month and I was so sad it ended just before I got paid and missed it. I hoped for it to come again this sale and it did, I'm so happy!

Me too. I couldn't believe I wasn't able to buy the last time because my e-wallet was short €2.
I'm going to buy the Steam Controller + The Talos Principle (only €4.50 more) pack.

Yep, we were lucky they made a sale again, even tho it's not that surprising really.
IDK about you but the transport + VAT is so expensive (I live in Romania) that the final price was exactly 55€, the Steam Controller's original price :))) It's ok tho, it's like I got free shipping cuz of the sale. Can't wait for it.
Any idea about how long did it take to arrive for other people in the EU? They are being shipped all the way from the distant lands of Murica, right?
