Quoting: FireBurnIs there a way to get Steam to use your native wine rather than proton?
No, because Proton is Wine with additional fixes. You wouldn't want to do that. However you can build your own version of Proton and use a different version of Wine...just like is done here: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/articles/want-a-more-up-to-date-proton-for-steam-play-proton-ge-has-a-big-new-release-out.14924

Quoting: GuestThey mention visual studio in their software tools. I don't know how to take this. I am still not sure these games will run natively on Debian or trough a proton-like tool. And even if they do, it wouldn't mean they would be released to Linux desktop players for fears of high support costs for little revenue.
It's likely they will use Visual Studio to cross-compile to Linux. That way most devs targeting Stadia won't have to leave the comfort of their Windows developer machines. So developers won't get better at developing for Linux, but they will get better at targeting Vulkan.

Quoting: GuestI read that it has an "Integrated hint system to help you when you’re stuck", and the top review on Steam says "the puzzles are more straightforward then you might expect from the genre", so I’ll wishlist it :). I’m very often stuck early in point & click adventure games, so this should be a nice change.
Oooh yes that sounds like my cup of tea. I suffer from exactly the same problem, then get frustrated and stop playing. I love the animation style and I love Lovecraftian stories so will give it a go.

The developer of Gloomhaven wants to see what kind of demand there is for Linux support

Yeah please show them some support. I really am hoping this will come to Linux in native form. It's so much nicer than having to fiddle with a Proton port. FPS is really not an issue for this sort of turn based game.
