The new Steam Controller releases May 4th

I'm willing to give it a shot, even at its steep MSRP. Right now I use a Sony DualSense controller if I need a d-pad and a wireless Xbox 360 controller otherwise. 360 controllers' springs tend to loosen over time and (shocker) aren't manufactured anymore, so I'd really like to find something modern that feels comfortable to use. Xbox One controllers feel worse to me in basically every conceivable way unfortunately.

If the d-pad is to my liking, it may even replace my DS controller. 🤞

I can’t help but think a similar tool targeting Windows would be super janky and cost $20.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive reappears on Steam as a standalone download

Originally, Valve completely replaced Global Offensive with Counter-Strike 2, but they kept it as a legacy Beta you could switch to on Steam to play it.
Except, in true CS team fashion, it never worked on Linux: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux/issues/3291 [External Link]

Quoting: sarmadWhy would someone play CSGO when we have CS2? Is there anything that CSGO provides and CS2 doesn't?
Surf, Danger Zone, a Mac build, Demolition, Flying Scoutsman, a slew of maps that haven't been ported to CS2 yet, and more.

In fact, I was hoping this would make it easier to set up PUG between me and some of my Mac-owning friends. However, Valve left the Mac build out of the depot for this new listing. What's strange is that under the system requirements, the recommended Windows version is MacOS X 10.11. I would love to know what prompted creating the new game listing, it's so bizarre.

The "video game preservation service" Myrient is shutting down in March

Quoting: tmtvlHow big is Myrient in total? I could maybe spare a couple hundred gigs of storage but I suspect that'd be far too little (and I couldn't distribute anything before its copyright expires anyway).
over 390 terabytes according to this article: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2026/02/the-video-game-preservation-service-myrient-is-shutting-down-in-march/

Discord attempt to put out the fires with a clarification over new age verification

Clarification, right on cue. Truly I think they had this and possibly some future PR written before the announcement even happened.

But so what if I’m auto verified? Why should I help make your walled garden more appealing to those who aren’t via the network effect? Verified or no, I’m ready to jump ship.

Developer of PlayStation 1 emulator DuckStation threatens "removing Linux support entirely" but not yet

@Cyril to be clear, we're thinking AUR packages should be fine, right? Since it doesn't distribute the source or binaries? Of course anyone who executes the PKGBUILD would be secretly violating the license as pointed out by that second DrMcCoy comment.

^ how'd you do that? I'd love to do the same.
The best guide I know of is the one for ASF: https://github.com/JustArchiNET/ArchiSteamFarm/wiki/Two-factor-authentication#common-steps-for-both-scenarios [External Link]
You'll want to follow the "Joint authenticator" section.

I imagine the process is similar if you want to use something like steamguard-cli instead of ASF. Once you have the token you can import it into applications that support Steam Guard, such as KeePass XC or 2FAS. You can thank me for Steam Guard support in the iOS 2FAS app btw
