we need at least some data about how Manjaro is being used by so many people around the world in order to show that the project has a future and also to plan for that future. If Manjaro doesn't have a future, it will be because of stunts like this.

Quoting: Mountain ManIf you want to play Nintendo games, then buy a Nintendo console. It's as simple as that.Must not be a fan of WINE or Proton by the same principles, right?

The enclave is essentially intended to be a way for us to PGP-sign packages with a single signing key instead of how we do it right now, which is with one personal key per packager. My assumption is this requires building on build servers instead of building on maintainers' machines like they currently do.

Excluding Linux is so funny in a sad way. Like, obviously this wasn't a decision informed by their desire for a cheater-free online experience. Because if it was, where was the anti-cheat the last 9 years? This is either incompetence or malice. I will rate the article "not helpful" as a sign of my disapproval.

You would think if the problem was that serious, that Valve would have put a bit more developer time on it by now.As a Counter-Strike player, I wouldn't think that at all.

Quoting: MalQuite the opposite actually. Madbro literally proved to the world that 30% is the right cut. He has shown with his own very feats that it is not possible to offer a better service than Steam with a lower cut. At this point any smart developer should rally behind Valve.I disagree. Steam has shown that it IS possible to offer a better service while taking a smaller cut, since that's absolutely what they did themselves!

Quoting: ToddLIf only GOG had the same amount of games that Steam has would there be good competition. Too bad they have a fraction of the Steam library of games but their DRM-free feature is pretty nice though :smile:That's what I mean! Selling games that are free from DRM is a compelling feature! And in fact, I have spent money in GoG's store. I haven't bought a single game in EGS.

Sweeney is correct. Valve's cut was (and is, to a slightly lesser extent) quite greedy and their immature trolling does make them assholes.
Where Sweeney is wrong is his thinking that all gamers want or need is a platform to buy, download, and update games from. I really wanted to see some competition in the space, but EGS's execution just plain doesn't cut it. There's not a single compelling reason to use it over Steam, but on the contrary lacks many features that Steam has accumulated over the years. I don't even like Steam particularly!
But once you factor in the Linux experience, it's a no-brainer. Epic has been extremely hostile to Linux. Their purchase of Psyonix/Rocket League is still fresh in my mind, where they abruptly ended Linux native builds. There was no need. So much for looking out for the little guy.
Sweeney can whine about the Valve tax all day. But if a game I wanted came out on both Steam and EGS, and the price on Steam was 30% more, I know which one I'd buy.
