Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island Riptide: Definitive Edition released, seem to have hidden Linux versions
1 Jun 2016 at 3:15 am UTC

If I press any key while logos are loading the game screen freezes, and if I don't push any button I only got a black screen after techland logo. Very disapointing. And yes, I do have Dying Light (finished it already). =(

Edit: The problem was something with pulseaudio -> "AL lib: pulseaudio.c:838: Device is suspended". After "killing" the pulseaudio process with pulseaudio -k the sound worked properly and the game started.

Edit2: Game has some instability with steam overlay. Crashed! =/

According to Deep Silver the new editions of Dead Island are not coming to Linux

Quoting: musojon74Hey all. Quick point - if they are removing the old versions for sale, will people with the old version in library still be able to download after a reformat etc?
Probably. I still have old Metro games on my library (that one before the redux remaster)

Thats very weird, indeed. Anyway, I'm glad I didn't bought any of the new editions. The sale on steam will last until May 31, so they got a few days yet lol.

Finished Batman AA, Spec OPS and Tomb Raider

Now I'm busy with:

1 - Shadow Warrior
2 - Victor Vran
3 - Saints Row the third and IV ( 2 crashes often)

:)

Looks like both Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island Riptide Definitive Edition are coming to Linux & SteamOS

Don't want to pop your bubble, but I finished Dead Island on Linux, with a friend, and for some whole levels, the coop was completely broken (he was on windows). This is the main reason my rant about the coop issues on Dying Light be so recurrent. It seems that they are using the same broken netcode, which is a big shame. That said, it would be great if *at least* on this "Definitive Edition" all these issue would be sorted out, but I wouldn't count on that since DL still has problems with it.

Awesome port! Got a single crash, after 2 and a half hours, though. Still very happy, many thanks FERAL! :)

I can deal with the low performance on SR2, it is barely playable at 1080p, but the game crashes way too often. =(
I'm now installing The Third to see how it goes. Worth mention that SR IV runs flawlessly.

The Humble Devolver Bundle has a few decent Linux games for cheap

Quoting: abelthorneShadow Warrior was already in a Humble Bundle long ago. Is that Special Edition the same one?

EDIT: from what I see on the Steam store page, it seems to be a different one. The SE includes new weapons, an artbook and the soundtrack, right?
The Shadow Warrior version from previous bundle (HiB 14) is also Special Edition. I just gave the current new key for a friend.
