If/How it works changes radically for me per game. Some games won't work with it at all that work just fine with normal Proton, some games work, but with abysmal performance compared to normal Proton.

I always try the latest mainline Proton first, then check GE if that outright doesn't work.
There are also a great many cases where a given game will work with one very specific release and no other.

However, It's currently somewhat safe to assume Valve & GE are painfully aware of this and working on a more comprehensive solution - since the SteamDeck will fail if gamers are constantly faced with 'Proton hunts' rather than OOTB play.

I, for one, have no objection to effectively beta-testing releases if it helps reach that point. I already report to ProtonDB regularly and mention specific Proton compatibility in Steam reviews

Bought this cos I have a major thing for quirky hellscapes & the lack of gender makes me happy.
I am, however, now deeply wary of buying yet more lo-fi pixel art and hoping to see more games at least aiming for Valheim / The Last Night as a visual standard

Really nice game with full 3440x1440 support, a whole load of helpful options, and DualSense works just fine (inc wireless).
The developers are also very friendly and responsive on Reddit, and have promised to work on including the DS icons

Ubisoft is less terrible now. I managed to play the entire AC series with minor fuss (you have to launch/close games *repeatedly* during install to get Uplay to function, but once set up it's a non-issue). Origin is currently proving a proper pain in the arse, though, and EA are completely deaf to all related feedback - it's like they'd prefer to lose sales than even consider fixing/ditching their utterly hated launcher. It's a damned shame since I'd buy Legendary in a heartbeat if the bloody thing actually worked.

Indeed. I very nearly refunded the game cos the performance felt so clunky (borderline inexcusable on my very recent and pretty decent rig)... then figured with the backlog I have already, it'll probably be fixed before I'm remotely ready to play it

Assassins Creed. I bought Origins and Odyssey on sale, enjoyed the first few hours of Origins so much I went back and bought/played 3 up: 3 is ok, BF amazing (Matt Ryan is da best), Rogue decent, Unity excellent, Syndicate utter garbage, Origins may be my fave game ever, Odyssey (5 hours in) so far so good

Unfortunately I'm having a weird eye issue where my vision spins for a few minutes, which started while watching an Odyssey cutscene. If that continues I'll call the Dr
