I'm not sure what system76 does with Pop OS, but for some reason it's just the fastest for boot speed on my laptop.

Coming back now after last year, it feels a lot more polished and I only ever need small extensions to change a few thing's behavior so much, much less Gnome instability as I don't need dash-to-dock, dash-to-panel, and all the other big extensions to change Gnome's behavior.

Pop Shop continues to be the best GUI App Store I've experienced - and now that more and more apps are on Flathub, there's less need to go on PPA hunting (although there are still a good deal of .deb apps that I need, so I wish for some sort of integration with deb-get).

While I was just thinking of using PopOS for a short while as I wait for Fedora 36 to come out, I think I'll stick with Pop for a while now - I'm looking forward to COSMIC DE, though I hope they have more configurability or compatibility with Gnome extensions as while I could definitely stand using COSMIC-GNOME without extensions, I'd be much happier if I could customize it to my preference.

I've been thinking about switching to Bottles, but I already have a working winepfx for use with my Japanese games and don't see the merit of moving to Bottles (especially as last year it was still buggy and before Wine 7.0, vn compatibility was still not great). Still, it is a good project and if it was more ready for prime time when I first discovered Linux, I'd definitely have used it instead.

I use Fedora KDE for work too, though I still use Garuda Linux for my gaming PC, especially because it makes getting certain apps easier. Sometimes, the apps I want don't really have a Fedora version, and I don't want to deal with the workarounds, so the Arch-based Garuda Linux just works best for me for non-work occasion. For work, though? I just want something stable that is more reasonably updated - and my best option for that is Fedora.

I really hope more apps adopt Flatpak though - it's so annoying when they only have .deb or Snap option, no Flatpak or actual rpm to make using them on Fedora easier. I really don't want to bother with Distrobox or JuNest or manual build to deal with those issues, which is why it's a no-go for my gaming PC.

I wonder how the Cheat Engine plugin works. Maybe it automatically installs cheat engine to the game's compat prefix and then starts it?

I used Syncthing for a while! It's actually pretty cool, and I'd recommend it for people who have multiple devices and just want to sync folders between them. It's pretty much the only option for these that is properly open source and doesn't rely on complicated setup.

The main issue I have is the lack of on-demand feature and a more robust phone app (and IIRC their iPhone client is proprietary and pretty much paid-only as well). I want to use it to get off the cloud, but it's too limited for that, unfortunately.

I switched to Resilio because of that, as while proprietary, it is robust enough for me to use as cloud replacement that, with one device that is always-on, allows me to access my remote files from phone as well as selectively backup + download my photos. Instantly canceled my OneDrive subscription after that.

Buuuut it is proprietary, isn't available via package manager, and selective sync as well a few other features are paid-only on PC - thankfully, both selective sync and ID connection works on phone - you can use your phone as introducer in case your other devices doesn't have trial anymore.

I would happily switch back to SyncThing as soon as they have they have all I need, but considering how Syncthing Lite was dead for so long and the disappointment that was Mobius Sync, I can't say I'm optimistic it's going to happen anytime soon.

(yes, i won't stop mentioning resilio and bitching about syncthing's lack of simple selective sync on both android and PC until it's implemented - I'll take it even if it's paid option)

Then again, SyncThing is probably the only option we're going to have on Steam Deck for a long while (unless you want to fiddle with SeaFile - which seems like even more of a hassle and less trustable) so if I have a Steam Deck then I'll just install SyncThing to at least have a sync setup.

Kinda wanted to donate at first, then I saw that starting amount is $40 and it has less everything in terms of quantity and things that interest me compared to itch's, which I've already paid for. Much as I want to donate, I'll have to skip - that minimal amount is too much for me and even if I earmarked next month's discretionary spending, I can't really justify it with that kind of contents (mainly because itch's was just much better).

They really are a shell of their former self at this point. Even with this big of a bundle and for 100% charity, it's just... mediocre for what they're asking.

You can test it yourself if you're using wine-staging, pretty sure it's been there since staging 6.0 or something.

Personally, I'd love to see an official dark theme support at some point. There has been a few tries [External Link] at it, but I'd like for an official one.
