Quoting: namikoNobody can stop you from being gay, lesbian, bi, trans, whatever else. Nobody can stop you from expressing yourself in any way you please.
I'm not sure if you're from the US or not or follow the politics here, but Missouri is banning trans affirming care for individuals up to the age of 25. So yeah conservatives are indeed trying to stop even adults from being trans. Conservatives fought forever to stop gay marriage and I imagine now that they have a solid hold on the supreme court and that the culture war is a central part of their identity I bet it's going to come up again. Not to mention you have everyday gay couples with children getting harassed in the real world and accused of stealing children, because of the prevalent grooming narrative. So yeah people are very much being stopped from expressing themselves from fear of retaliation of bigots or the laws put in place by bigots.

Quoting: namikoIf you can't unplug from the virtual square, you're missing out on what life really means. I'd rather a million online strangers hate me so long as my family and friends do not, because they can't stop me from being who I am outside of the screen.
It's great if you're in the position to be able to disconnect and not have any of this affect you personally. Not everyone is so lucky and all this hate and misinformation have very dire real world consequences for people. It's not just people having their feelings hurt online.

Quoting: namikoStart at the bottom if you want to affect change in a meaningful way that isn't limited to scoring internet points.
It's not just about internet points. Conservatives have weaponized misinformation and are using it to stigmatize the groups of people they don't like and push for legislation that impacts these groups negatively, while letting their hate mob put the fear into the marginalized groups forcing themselves into the closet to protect themselves.

Quoting: Mountain ManEh, it goes both ways. I once made a perfectly polite and respectful remark stating my opposition to a certain issue. In response, I was called every filthy name you can think of by a number of posters. Guess who got banned for "hate speech". Go on, guess.
Attacking people for something they have no control over vs being attacked over holding a view. One of these is hate speech and the other is not.

Quoting: namikoIn order to prevent this, it's necessary to see things we don't like, even briefly before we block that person. We should know they exist so we can avoid those people if we individually choose.
Individual responsibility is great when you're being targeted by a handful of assholes, not so great when you're up against a massive hate campaign trying to stigmatize your very existence. Right now in the US there is a massive number of anti-LGBTQIA+ bills going through the system and being passed which is having real world consequences that can't just be solved by blocking people, and it's being supported due to the massive amount of misinformation being pushed. Just look at all the accusations of people being groomers being slung for wanting to let children know it's ok to be gay and that it's a normal thing.

Quoting: Kithop...let's be honest, here: the 'free speech' being championed, even if it doesn't purport to be, on the surface, invariably becomes a vehicle for hate of anyone 'other'.
Let's be honest, here: a lot of what is decried as "hate speech" is simply whatever opinion a liberal happens to disagree with. It's like the whole "microaggression" and "white privilege" nonsense where you can be condemned as guilty no matter what you do or say.
What fantasy land do you live in? Please find me any conservative speech on the internet covering LGBTQIA+ issues with a comments section where it isn't just a bunch of downright hateful slurs and mean spirited remarks. I bet you can find this speech on all the "liberal" platforms like youtube, twitter, reddit, etc but I doubt you'll find any with civil discourse. Like are you using an alternate internet where hate speech doesn't exist? Or are you so obtuse as to not find these types of slurs and malicious remarks as not being hate speech?

Quoting: TheSHEEEPCould your remarkable envy and irrational hate of people who are capable of managing money be any more obvious?
It's amazing how well all the people born into generational wealth can manage money even after stupid failure after stupid failure. It's almost like having lots of money makes it easier to buy speech and representation under capitalism which can be used to get money easier...

Quoting: llortonI count on both of you to spend time on Twitter to educate people and fight misinformation. Otherwise it will keep spreading.
I do that on Facebook from time to time, but it's really exhausting.
Yeah the unfortunate reality is that it only takes seconds to create bullshit and much longer than that to clear it up.

Hmm... For me the screen goes blue after I build a harvester. I ran the game under proton experimental with the default in game graphical settings using OpenGl with a Radeon 5700XT and using mesa 21.3.7 .

You don't end up being one of the richest people on the planet by being charitable. Elon's not buying Twitter out of some notion of promoting free speech. He's either doing it to stroke his ego and/or he sees a way to make it profitable either directly or indirectly through the manipulation of information. The fact that he wants to add in verification to separate bot accounts from genuine ones sounds like he wants an account to be directly tied to exact details of the person behind the account which would make the data collected about the account holder that much more lucrative. There's no way Twitter will become neutral as the constant conflict is what drives engagement and is what draws people to Twitter. All the "free speech" alternatives just turn into echo chambers that are so toxic as to not be advertise-able. The people who got banned from Twitter were banned because they made the platform look bad and less advertiser friendly. At best Elon is going to bring back some of the popular dissenters to pay lip service to free speech and proceed to use the platform to shape the flow of information to his advantage. I'm sure it'll remain the toxic cesspool it's known for because that's what drives the engagement.

The fact that anyone seriously believes a billionaire has any interest in the welfare of anyone else besides their own is mind boggling. You don't get that rich by giving a damn about other people.

Quoting: TcheyAs a game can take hours and days to play, i find it "stupid" to lose it all on a mistake.
I never like permadeath in any game (but the ones death is part of a loop, you have to die to progress).
I always prefer to select my doom, reload or not my save, accept or not my mistakes.
Not being forced to start over.
If you die, when you get to it asking if you want to see your last messages you can just close the game and load from your last save fine.

Screeps: Arena is an online RTS for programming fans

Quoting: riidomNot a single screenshot with actual code on the steam page, is it because you write in an external editor? Would be weird for a game, tbh.
If it's anything like the original screeps then yeah there is a basic in game editor, but if you're a programmer you probably have a preferred editor which can be used with the game. I also used git as version control is very helpful for testing and reverting ideas.
