Microsoft Reportedly Buying Minecraft Maker Mojang
10 Sep 2014 at 6:16 am UTC Likes: 4

To be honest, it's not like Notch is a stalwart hero of Linux gaming. As far as I know Scrolls still doesn't have a Linux port, and Minecraft mostly was Linux compatible because it was trivial to make it so (JVM) and because he went balls out with making it run on everything possible.

The little I know about the guy, it seems possible to me he just got bored of the entire "being productive" deal and decided to pocket the 2B to live in luxury for rest of his life without having to as much as lift a finger.

On the other, less cynical side, he might as well accept the dough, leave the studio, and start a new one, carrying a budget to do something even bigger and more spectacular than ever before. Clean slate, etc. I don't think he ever hugely valued the Minecraft franchise and it's clear that that's what Microsoft might primarily want to buy Mojang for.

The Witcher 3 For Linux Remains Officially Unconfirmed

I dunno but there's no reason why an Environment Art & Level Design Producer would have any idea if there's going to be a Linux/Mac release or not as far as he's concerned, it's all PC (the controls, resources, delivery, are all the same).

It's like asking an interior designer of BMW about engine options of their next model. He's not one to really know.

War Thunder MMO Coming To Linux

Honestly, this is the game I have been spending unhealthy amounts of time in over the course of last year (I own almost all the planes available in the game including like half of the premium ones and already got a top tier tank) and while I heard about this earlier, it definitely made me really happy.

If you wanna give it a try right now, go ahead, as mentioned, it has an openGL renderer so it runs like a charm under Wine, but having a Linux native version will be great, partially because it will make recording videos and such even easier and hopefully run even better.

And do you have proof that it's fake? Them not being affiliated with Valve doesn't prove anything since SteamOS is open source.
Unheard of company releases nothing but a trailer, there's not a single mention of it by Valve, no specifications, no anything.

I give you that it might not be outright fake, but it's not worth reporting about, because there isn't enough confirmed info on it and all it gonna cause is speculation and misunderstanding.

Quoting: streamI guess they forgot to mention that you gone have a pc in the back streaming the content to you, thats basically what steamos is about, to let people with huge windows steam collection run their games. so probably gone have a minimum linux/steamos install but does not need any hefty cpu/gfx power
Yeah that's the only realistic possibility that came to my mind - basically Nvidia Shield but based on Steam streaming.

Civilization V Strategy Game Launches Natively On SteamOS Linux

Is it me or is the DLC missing?

I own the complete collection (happily played it under Wine earlier) but it seems like the DLC is simply not there. The "View Downloadable Content" option isn't there on the steam library menu, and the ingame DLC menu is entirely empty.

It makes the store page "Linux support" icons on all the DLC a bit misleading.

I suppose it's not a big issue and will probably be quickly fixed, but it's still kinda inconvenient (I was still really hoping to play :p)

Ask The Community: Your Thoughts On The Steam Client Being DRM

Quoting: omer666I think that as long as a game engine is proprietary, DRM or not doesn't change a great deal.
This.

Also, Steam's complete lack of consumer rights due to operating out of the USA isn't great either.
I know what exactly you mean but there's many cases where people demanded a refund on their game for a reason or another and got it.
