I've only played through the start of the first world so far, but my 360 controller functions just fine with it. The only slowdown I've had is stuttering on the loading screen, but I'm fine with that. Everything in-world runs smoothly, in fact a bit more smoothly than I'm used to. And that's on a several-years-old machine, so current hardware should handle it just fine.
The voices though, those are the most annoying crap ever. I knew they would be from the trailers, but wow that unskippable cutscene at the start killed me. A lot of people in the Steam forum (when not interminably whining over JonTron) seem to think it's fine because Banjo-Kazooie did it, but I suspect they've got a bad case of nostalgia glasses.
I was amused that the book-stealing machine's name can be abbreviated to N64.

People keep raving about how good Streamlink Twitch GUI [External Link] is, but unfortunately they don't provide a .deb or .rpm package at all, and there seems to be little interest on the part of the dev to provide them. I tried installing via npm as the site suggests and it totally didn't work, so I gave it up as a bad experience.

I've had this for a few months now, and it's quite good already. There's a lot of potential in the game.

I will say, some of the non-Sadwick voices were really good. Points to Daedalic on that at least.

Quoting: SalvatosHave to agree there. Plus I was sold on the game being this really solid story with some degree of seriousness, and couldn't help but feel like someone pulled a bait-and-switch on me. There's too much both of Sadwick self-deprecating and the overall game being geared toward cartoony jokes. Like you look at the "About the game" section above, that gives no indication of the kinda off the mark wacky stuff or the character you're basically stuck with throughout.Quoting: EikeSurprised by the reviews. Would have expected around 90%...It's hard to overstate just how damn depressing that clown is. If the game's humor were better it might offset him, but I don't remember finding anything in the game more than mildly amusing, especially when so much of it is at the expense of a character. It's quirky in a way that could be charming but for me it felt awkward most of the way. I can't help but feel that while I could applaud Daedalic for succeeding in making Sadwick a sad and pitiful character as intended, I am more inclined to point out that not many people want a main character to be a pitiful self-defeatist that drags his feet through the whole adventure. I don't want to hate the game, but the protagonist really irks me.

I must say, I was skeptical of this game when it first started being covered, but it looks like it's getting more and more interesting as it goes along. I'm seeing more depth in the recent trailers which is pretty appealing.

If HL2 didn't set off my simulation sickness in a uniquely bad way, even when the FoV is set to 100, I'd love to try the game out with some of Low-Spec Gamer's tweaks:

As to HL2 itself, I think what I always looked forward to the most when playing was the sheer vertiginous tension of navigating the bridge. Which got even worse on the way back since you were being harassed by the gunship, and I was never really that good a shot with rockets.

Quoting: TuxeeWith HL1 I was and still am stuck in Xen between the Gonarch and the Nihilant. HL2 was different. Finished the base game several times - I find all levels stunning: Ravenholm, the highway section, the "water hazard"... Episode I was - relatively speaking - a bit of a letdown. Episode II cranked it up again, but I never finished the final battle against the Striders with the Magnusson Device. Shame.I was sort of the opposite, I enjoyed the urban combat and navigating the wreckage of the tower in Episode I to the antlion caverns and frankly way-too-gimmicky final battle of Episode II. The fact that Magnusson pretty much literally came out of nowhere and everyone was suddenly deferring to the jerk didn't really help much. There were good bits of course, it's still a Half-Life game after all, but I thought it was further from the others than Ep I was.
