Quoting: Purple Library GuyGuess I'm going to have to get Backbone when it comes out. Looks interesting, but above all, as a Vancouverite gotta explore dystopian Vancouver!

Don't you just have to go outside for that? I guess this way you can skip that step.

Humble Store has a Square Enix sale with some top Linux games going cheap

Quoting: Perkeleen_VittupääGood steals. But who does not yet own those!?

Me. I've only got Tomb Raider and the mobile version of Lara Croft GO.

Quoting: AsuSquare! Please put any final fantasy on linux. Preferably FFVII.

I'd be down for VI, IX, the remaster of X, and/or XII. I do know VII runs well with Proton at least.

Nelly Cootalot: Spoonbeaks Ahoy! HD, a revival of the classic freeware adventure game is coming to Linux

It was awfully nice of them to single-handedly, and retroactively, invent the pirate adventure genre for us.

I never played the original game, but I do know that the soundtrack for this one is gonna be hot if this is anything to go by:

Kind of curious who's rapping in the trailer though. Can't find anything on them.

Destiny or Fate, a deck-building roguelike with similarities to Slay the Spire has Linux support

You're not kidding about it not being clear. I can't tell what the hell is going on, in terms of gameplay, in most of that trailer. It looks like a confusing mess.

Not to mention, while the art's not bad those are some seriously generic "Fantasy Game Number 23" enemy designs. The monsters, the pretty boy villain dude, the sorceress with her tits practically falling out, the standard-issue buffed up warrior dude, etc. etc. etc. One thing Slay the spire really had going for it was enemies and heroes that stood out from the crowd, but this one really doesn't in that sense.

GOG are ending their 'Fair Price Package program', soon after letting staff go

Regarding GoG's Linux support, I can't recall where I read it (it may have been during a conversation on Mastodon), but I've been told that they only have one person in charge of Linux updates, and they don't tend to respond to emails promptly. Which is a huge disadvantage for Linux devs since, as was noted on an article here on GoL, updates are sent to them via manual FTP and then manually applied at their end. So not exactly good service on their part.

A reminder about Steam's platform-specific wishlist feature you should be using

Wait, this is already set on my Steam client (I don't remember manually setting it before, so it must have done so automatically), and yet I am able to go search for a Windows game that I've heard is good and works on Proton, put it on my wishlist, and still receive sale emails about it. Pretty sure I've received sale emails about No Man's Sky, for instance. Am I imagining all that?

Valve is getting back to focusing on gaming, with non-gaming videos being retired

Only video I watched on Steam was Kung Fury, and that was free.

What have you been playing recently and what do you think of it?

CRASHLANDS, which was generously donated to me by someone from the most recent bundle. It's absorbing and the writing is really good. The game does a pretty good job at disguising the grind of gathering various sorts of crafting materials as something actually fun to do. The combat is pretty interesting, being entirely point-and-click action RPG style.

CAVES OF QUD, an absorbing but often intensely frustrating experience. The enormous game world remains a mystery largely because of how horrifically unbalanced the game is, often throwing higher levelled creatures into low-level areas that you simply aren't equipped to deal with. Thus, early deaths are very common, leaving you to wonder what lies beyond the western edge of the map. That said, the character builds have a nice wide variety to them, the powers are fun on the rare runs where you get a decent enough level (my record, after 45 hours of play, is level 17) and the writing is quite good. Not sure I'd recommend it based on the balance issues though, that's how bad they are.

ENDERAL: FORGOTTEN STORIES is a Windows game yeah, but I figured since it's a Skyrim mod and I can run Skyrim fine with Steam Play (except the underwater thing), I should be able to play this. No dice, they buggered it up so the launcher dies so the whole game is inaccessible. I haven't the patience to re-download it in a VM and try it that way, so oh well.

The Humble Great GameMaker Games Bundle is out with some sweet Linux games

Hmm. The only thing I'd actually be interested in is Crashlands. Guess I'll be sitting this one out.
