Quoting: Segata SanshiroFeel bad for the ResidualVM guys though, this kind of renders their work pretty pointless since this is the only game they've got working. That leaves them Monkey Island 4 (meh) and a few others which don't use a 2d engine like Discworld Noir. Hopefully means they'll focus on those though instead of abandon work on the project.Well, yes and no. I think there's an insinuation in that last video that DF are going to be trying to collaborate with the ResidualVM developers. If that ends up happening, then that's potentially really positive and hopefully will lead to making sure that ResidualVM supports this new version of the game from day zero, and that's a little exciting.

Quoting: GuestDoes ResidualVM work as awesome as ScummVM?Yup, it should do! It's a little younger than ScummVM, but it's playable. IIRC, my last playthrough of the game was done using ResidualVM.
Hand of Fate, A Card Based Action Game Released For Linux

I've been playing this game since builds were made available to Kickstarter backers and it's been great to watch it evolve. When I first got my hands on it, it was already pretty solid so far as premise and core concepts go.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how it changes as we push towards release (release of the full game) - I fully expect the Steam Early Access launch to ramp up the rate at which the rough edges will be smoothed out.

PCGamingWiki Looks At XCOM and Civ V Linux Ports

So far as I can tell, there are a lot more people are not having problems than there are those that are. That doesn't mean that things are perfect (though it is great to see Feral being responsive to people who do have problems) - I only highlight it because focusing on edge cases to judge the port on isn't a good idea.

Quoting: BestiaWell I would say that it is norm. Just today someone posted this on Steam forums [External Link]:Two people doesn't make it the norm.

I don't know what kind of existing Linux experience Feral Interactive had or brought onboard for the project, but as a first port from the studio, it's pretty positive IMO.

Quoting: BestiaOne guy posted screenshots comparing Windows (124 fps) and Linux (43 fps).Others have highlighted that this could be an edge case rather than the norm, but even if it wasn't, 43fps is still more than playable, and it's better to view that as being "room for improvement" that we can use to positively encourage further development rather than being unacceptable or a poor job.

I've popped EU in the event suggestion list.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroI might play XCOM and Civ 5. Also didn't know there were weekly game of guns of icarus, so will sign up for that.Sweet. Looking forward to flying with you!
Any chance of a Europa Universalis multilayer?
I've popped EU in the event suggestion list.
Quoting: OrkultusSome Natural Selection 2 would be fun :)We've had a couple previously and they ended up giving a poor experience. With the number of people experiencing crashes, we've been trying to hold off on NS2 until there's an update that addresses stability.
Quoting: Xpanderi have been super busy lately and havent taken part from any recent SteamLUG events.. i hope i can make it to the XCOM one... no promises though.Hope we'll see you there! We've missed you ^_^

We also take suggestions [External Link] on what to run, so if there's something you do have that you think you'd be able to play on a weekend when you were near a decent internet connection, feel free to tell us!

Quoting: LowEndGeekI wish I could be more active in the LUG events. Sadly I neither have the money for these games nor the adequate amount of time to play them. I only get a limited amount of time on the internet per day and most of it is spent on public wifi which blocks steam. It only helps with one of those issues, but we do try to run at least one free game each month.

GamingOnLinux Interviews Feral Interactive About XCOM & Linux Game Development

I think it's OK for Feral to decide to not offer 32 bit support, but the amount of derision in Linux communities toward people running older stuff or people who don't care enough to move up to 64 bit is super uncool (Astro seems completely out of line in this thread, but I'm not sure that that justifies some of the more generalised responses).

Quoting: DrMcCoyIt seems like a lot of people still think 64-bit is broken and not necessary anyway.IMO, this is the root of it. As somebody who very recently installed a 64 bit system, I don't feel like it's really given me any kind of noticeable benefit for every day activities. It feels hard to justify calling it "necessary".

Given that there aren't corporate machines constantly trying to get people to upgrade and buy new stuff, the level of 64 bit adoption on Linux has always seemed pretty impressive to me.

Quoting: minjThat's the thing, Canonical is in part to blame for the slow decline of 32bit.I'm not sure that holds much water when there are still significant numbers of Windows users (even in the Steam survey which is biased towards gaming oriented users) who're running 32 bit operating systems - maybe even more than there are 32 bit Linux users. It seems very much that there's something bigger at work than one distro's recommendation.

Quoting: DrMcCoyFair enough; to each their own. :)Learning that its content is intertwined with the original game's storyline sheds a bit of light on the ordering in the launcher though - thanks!
