ChimeraOS Linux 48 brings new hardware support for your handhelds and living room PCs

@Corben Bazzite forks their gamescope-session and contains the same workaround in the quirk list that supported the XG Mobile that ChimeraOS has: https://github.com/bazzite-org/gamescope-session/blob/main/usr/share/gamescope-session-plus/device-quirks [External Link]

Even with SteamOS coming to more systems Bazzite has no plans to go anywhere

I don't really understand what Bazzite being Cloud Native means. Does this mean that Bazzite is unable to function if the computer is offline (i.e., no network or internet connection)?
It works without internet connection yes. Cloud-native is a term that gets thrown around certain industries that boils down to how the OS is built and the tooling used. Bazzite is built and deployed in Github and that's how they do their upgrades too. It's a little confusing and not something most people commonly say. If you are familiar with continuous development and continuous integration (CD/CI), then it's the same stuff going on here with Bazzite.

You can rebase to the Nvidia Bazzite-Deck image using the `bazzite-rollback-helper` command.

I have the controversial opinion that Linux native ports should be treated as legacy, and that Proton is what we should be striving for.

Bazzite 3.5 gets updated NVIDIA drivers, expanded handheld support (including Steam Deck OLED)

Quoting: PenglingEvery time I check for support for the Intel version of the GPD Win Max 2021, and every time it doesn't happen. Guess mine's staying on Mint Xfce, then!

As an aside, I do like the way that the Bazzite logo on the official website moves as you move your mouse around it.
It probably never will as long as gamescope-session only works properly on Intel Arc GPUs and nothing before that for the Intel GPUs. Steam's Gaming Mode only works on modern AMD GPUs and Intel Arc GPUs for now. Recently, it even broke on AMD Polaris hardware too. Kind of what happens when the session is only intended for 1 device, the Steam Deck.

Bazzite does have Desktop images though and that may work for your needs, but it'll be like using a gaming-focused Fedora Atomic Desktop image with inspiration from SteamOS's Desktop Mode. Automatic system and application updates are neat though.

EA anticheat arrives for Battlefield V in April, will break it on Linux / Steam Deck

Quoting: KimyrielleMaybe one day the developers of shooters will figure out how to design cheat-resilience into the game itself, instead of trying to take control over their customers systems, which won't ever work.
I think they need to stop focusing on client-side and develop a decent server-side solution.

PC and handheld gaming with Linux levels up with Bazzite v2.3.0

Quoting: PenglingAssuming that Bazzite is ok with the Intel version of the GPD Win Max 2021, I'd love to try it on mine. It's been used less since I got my Steam Deck, and I'd like to give it a more appropriate OS than just using plain Mint Xfce on it.
You won't get functional Game Mode from what I can tell. Intel GPUs that are not ARC dGPUs do not have the required Vulkan extensions for gamescope-session, sadly. You can run the desktop version but you will have to use Steam's Big Picture Mode.

Quoting: deathxxxI cannot understand what is meaning HDR support?
Is support Nvidia? Or Just AMD with selected games?
I thought linux don't have any HDR support at least on Nvidia side.
Game Mode images include HDR. KDE Plasma and GNOME plan to implement HDR later, but yeah obviously that isn't here yet. If you plan to have Game Mode installed (which doesn't work on Nvidia and most Intel GPUs like I said above) then HDR works as well as it would on the Steam Deck.

They offer Desktop images that have support for most hardware (like Nvidia GPUs) though, but it's like having SteamOS in Desktop Mode only if that's a deal breaker. Although unlike SteamOS, it isn't as limiting as you can still overlay Fedora packages to the image plus there's a whole emphasis on containers so you can use essentially any package manager as long as those packages don't need to be at a "system-level."

SteamOS-like Linux package Bazzite 2.0 is out now for Steam Deck and desktop

Quoting: PyreticI wonder if this works better than the official SteamOS on the Steam Deck, considering how long Valve is taking with 3.5. Maybe someone could test it
I've been using it. As long as you don't have a stock 64GB Steam Deck, it's basically SteamOS 3.5 with the option of layering packages between updates. You do miss out on color options and HDR until Fedora gets that. Other than that it's pretty identical.

Seen so many people excited about this for Gamepass. Microsoft really has the PC gaming market on a string despite not doing that much for the platform in the last decade or so.
