People haven't changed. Technology has, and so has business. As long as people have had the means to "pirate" stuff, they've done it.

Quoting: NyamiouSorry but even if this is true, piracy is popular today because of a deeper problem where people more and more try to profit from society as much as they can while not being willing to do anything for it. The way it affect video game sales is irrevelant because in the end that is a dangerous behavior that we have to stop from becoming more popular to protect the fundations of our societies.Oh, you read the conservatism handbook? Or are you just overly nostalgic? Because that sounded almost comically like the "get off my lawn" speech.

Quoting: Comandante ÑoñardoNo it doesn't. An EULA often contains additional restrictions, but those do not override freedoms explicitly codified in law. If an EULA tells me I cannot make a backup of a game on my hard drive or some such bullshit, according to EU law I can simply ignore it and do it anyway.Quoting: tuubiAnd why shouldn't they be able to fund their project? Like Shmerl said, Emulation and software reverse engineering are completely legal in the free world. Might be a grey area in the corporate states of America, but what isn't?That depends on the EULA of the thing You want to reverse engineering or emulate.
Quoting: elmapulYou missed my point. I totally understand why people pirate Photoshop (and no I don't think they should), but pirating a text editor is pointless. You won't lose much productivity or convenience by switching to a free alternative.Quoting: tuubiApples and oranges.not really, piracy is piracy dont matter what you're piraiting.
if people who use pirated photoshop dont use gimp/krita, why do you think they will use linux?
people took years to replace IE they would take even more to replace an Operating system, piracy only make this stuff harder
Quoting: elmapulOh, I disagree. If they don't want people playing it on PC because "they're all naughty pirates who will only buy if we give them no choice!", Atlus is a bunch of idiots.Quoting: tuubiIf someone already owns the game on a console, they're not likely to buy it for pc. If they pirated the console version to play with an emulator, they're not likely to pay for the game anyway. This argument is pretty much nonsense.that is exactly the reason that they dont want people playing it on pc.
thanks for confirming that Atlus is right.

Quoting: elmapul"It's GNU or nothing? Who would even pirate (or buy) a text/code editor when there are so many excellent free alternatives around."Apples and oranges.
i can say the same for photoshop, oh wait, people do pirate photoshop!
EDIT:
Quoting: elmapulthey cant make an profit proting the game for pc, if everyone on pc had played the game already. If someone already owns the game on a console, they're not likely to buy it for pc. If they pirated the console version to play with an emulator, they're not likely to pay for the game anyway. This argument is pretty much nonsense.

Oh this is really nice! I'll have to check it out the next time my F310 doesn't work right in a game, but luckily that's extremely rare. (Hopefully I can get my hands on an actual Steam Controller at some point though.)

Quoting: GuestThey are not supposed to profit from it, but they are with Patreon. And why shouldn't they be able to fund their project? Like Shmerl said, Emulation and software reverse engineering are completely legal in the free world. Might be a grey area in the corporate states of America, but what isn't?
Quoting: appetrosyan(Albeit, I'd say, it's always better to use GNU vi or GNU emacs over a pirated version of sublime text). It's GNU or nothing? :) Who would even pirate (or buy) a text/code editor when there are so many excellent free alternatives around.
Quoting: charliebrownauYet recently they are censoring peopleTheir platform, they choose the rules. I'm assuming you refer to the racist, homophobic reporter lady who made noise about getting her account closed, but they've closed other accounts as well. Not allowing hate speech or using patreon to collect funds for such is just good business, and their prerogative. As I said, their platform.

Whoa Cheese, I guess I'll be replaying this little gem soon. I have a soft spot for the more tongue-in-cheek text adventures, even if this isn't technically a very traditional entry in the genre. Really nice that you found the time for some spit and polish.
