California law to require operating systems to check your age
3 Mar 2026 at 10:33 pm UTC Likes: 1

I believe this is among the most sane implementation of age gating I've seen so far.

As defined, it can be (should be) entirely on device and only provides the relevant info. The responsibility falls with the device owner to perform the age check and not some dodgy third party.

Sounds like a much better solution than most parental control softwares available today, which are either invasive, fallible or both. Instead of a website/program displaying a popup "are you over X" it'd call an api which answers yes/no. And the return of that api can only be changed with root access to the device. I really don't see any harm in that, it does not provide any more info than you already do when answering the same age popup on steam/a porn website/etc.

Battling castles on wheels? Wanderburg might be my new favourite thing

Going to test this!

I've been keeping an eye on castle come [External Link] which has a somewhat similar concept, unfortunately no demo yet though.

Godot Engine suffering from lots of "AI slop" code submissions

Quoting: Liam Dawe
Quoting: whizseHow matplotlib's attempt at moderating AI submissions went:

Oh brave new world, that has such LLMs in it!
I heard about this the other day, because Ars Technica then ran (and removed [External Link] ) an article, which used AI which entirely made up quotes about it all.
Had heard about the matplotlib saga but not the deliciously ironic arstechnica fiasco that went along. Rotten cherry on top of the moldy cake.

Meet the mind behind Bazzite - an interview with Kyle Gospodnetich

Interesting interview! M. Gospodnetich sounds like a level-headed person and actually got me interested in their project. Respect for the humility when considering Bazzit as a "distribution" and massive kudos for the answer about anti-cheats, clear and so true.

Pineapple on pizza absolutely rules.
Honey, get the botnet out, GoL is going down! 😡

(that's a joke, please don't ban, I will never seek to harm someone, no matter how heretically wrong their statements are)

GOG now using AI generated images on their store

Quoting: KimyrielleMy feelings on that are clear: As long as people find it acceptable to use AI for coding (and they seem to), it must be okay to use it for everything else, too.
The biggest difference with coding is that AI is rarely used to generate the end product. It's used for snippets or a starting point and then people iterate on it.

The artist equivalent would be using AI to generate a sketch and then drawing over it until happy with the result.

I personally think that's an acceptable use, but also that the result is usually of worse quality.

Fable, Forza Horizon 6 and more from Xbox Developer Direct 2026

The trend to "reboot" franchises needs to die already. At this point, it's just a lazy attempt to capitalise on nostalgia for a past success.

That aside, the Fable reboot is developed by the same guys as Forza (at least those that weren't fired) and will use the same engine. Sounds odd to me but we'll see.

Quoting: doragasuThey must trust FEX a whole lot if they are not encouraging devs to make an ARM build...
They only need to trust it more than they trust game devs to do a good job porting to an unknown architecture on an unknown platform.
