Except the version on Steam is the arcade version of Zero Wing, not the Genesis version. So it doesn't have all the terrible translations like the famous "All your base are belong to us." So if you are hoping to get that version, this release will disappoint you.

Quoting: ShabbyXThis conversation is not going anywhere, stop wasting your lives and move on.Pretty sure you don't understand what you are talking about. The entire Steam OS is open source, all the DE stuff, all the drivers, Proton, everything but the Steam Client/App itself. You could install the entire thing yourself on any device you wanted without any legal issues. Remember this is basically what ChimeraOS does but they do it for a living room console setup.

Too bad GOG is only selling the Windows versions. If you want the Linux versions you will need to buy from Steam based on what they currently posted on GOG.
Humble Bundle decides you need another launcher for parts of Humble Choice

Well that's the end of Humble Bundle for me. I won't bother to buy from them anymore. They rarely sell DRM free stuff themselves. Majority of what they sell is Steam keys these days. Now you throw in them choosing to basically dump Linux support and Humble Bundle becomes a big NO for me.

This is exactly why you don't pre-order a game that promises Linux support. There is no guarantee that it will ever be released and you end up paying for something you can't use.
Unity acquires streaming service Parsec for $320 million

Plex has been using Parsec to offer their game streaming server setup to stream games with Plex. Game companies have been using it a way to stream a game to reporters and others to play it without having to send out a copy of the game that others could end up passing around before it was released. This would in theory allow any game company to stream their own games instead or perhaps Unity is going to offer servers to stream games just like Parsec has already been doing.
Parsec already made a Mac server for Plex as well. It would be interesting to see if they work on the Linux hosting server that Parsec talked about a year or more ago.

Valve fires back in the lawsuit from Wolfire Games

Valve did have a contract at one point with developers that said if you put a game on another store at a lower price then they had to adjust the price to be the same on Steam. This wasn't sales but normal everyday price. This is not conjecture. I actually read the contract that Valve made developers sign to sell their games on Steam.
Basically if you published a game on Steam Valve said you could not sell it for less on other stores and under cut the Steam store. Which sounds totally illegal to me. If I as a developer want to sell a game on say Epic for $25, since Epic only takes 13% cut then sell it on Steam for $35 since Valve takes a 30% cut then it should be totally legal. As a developer if I want my take home pay to be the same everywhere then I should have that right. Valve also charges developers to convert currency to their local currency as well. So if you want to jack up your game price to cover all those fees and the cut then a developer should be allowed to do it.
The fact that Valve tries to tell developers that they can not sell their game at a lower price anywhere else is total garbage. Yes, Valve is using their monopoly position to harm consumers and developers when they do this.

Why do we constantly try and litigate this crap in public forums? This is something for the police and courts to deal with. Companies and individuals don't have the expertise to get to the truth if there was laws broken or if someone is just being vindictive or whatever. We don't know and can't possibly know. This belongs in the courts and the police investigating everything, not the public trying to figure stuff out when we can't possibly investigate or put people under oath and swear to the truth under penalty of perjury. The public also can't force records to be released and information turned over. All of this kind of stuff belongs in the domain of the police and the courts and people should stop trying to try this crap in public. We can never know the truth since everyone involved on both sides is free to lie on social media and on blog posts and what not, without any repercussions. I'm really tired of trial by mob who never has all the facts.

Quoting: IggiAgain until they put a promise on the Steam store or other store where people can get a refund when they don't do Linux support, I personally won't purchase until there is some kind of guarantee that they can't back out of, for supporting Linux, after taking my money.Quoting: Liam DaweThere was a backer update today:Quoting: MblackwellAre all OSes/Platforms releasing the same day? They've not indicated otherwise so we assume so.
Linux and Mac will be supported shortly after launch - timing on that is TBC.
Humble Bundle confirms changes coming mid-July to add a minimum payment for Humble

The market for gaming hasn't changed as much as Humble Bundle has changed. They have gone from a DRM free to store to mainly just another store selling Steam keys. Humble Bundle really doesn't do all that much to promote and help sell small indie developers either. There are other stores doing a much better job of that these days and Humble Bundle has no one to blame but themselves for chasing Steam keys and AAA games. Examples of better indie games stores in my mind would be ichi.io and indiegala.

In an email with Kotaku, Humble boss Alan Patmore said "Operational costs, such as the cost of acquiring content, have risen dramatically" which is one of the reasons why they're doing this. There is no cost to them for bundles so this is really mealy mouth market speak garbage. Yes they publish other developer games but that has zero to do with their bundles. Also they host almost nothing anymore. They mainly sell steam keys these days which cost them almost nothing in bandwidth since they are not hosting the files and providing downloads. Very little of what Humble Bundle does anymore is actually selling DRM games that you actually download from them.
