Suffice it to say I'm pretty annoyed about the controller issues and I'm not even going to attempt to play it again until they patch it.
Otherwise, it's pretty underwhelming. I personally *hate* when games are stingy with their map and this game brings back all the same annoyances from HK on that front. There is at least one very obnoxious movement mechanic (diagonally dashing into the red pads). I expect it will be an ok game overall, but to me, it definitely isn't some big deal and probably not something I'll play more than once.
I like Blasphemous and 9 Sols both *way* more than I like either of the HK games.

This is sadly still completely borked on desktop linux. I really hoped this would be fixed by now. Apparently you can work around it if you don't use keyboard and mouse (which is already a very weird failure condition) but I haven't been willing to do that.

Oh well. I'm still waiting for them to fix "the Alters" which is still thoroughly FUBAR, which is a bit surprising because it's unreal engine.

Having read some of the followups after my initial very positive comment, I think perhaps I have a bit of stockholm syndrome, I did not really expect valve ever to do *anything* other than talk about steam deck so I was quite pleasantly surprised to see this, but ultimately I agree, yeah, why would you not just do protondb. Better than nothing I guess.

I have extremely fond memories of playing Golden Ax as a child, which makes this appeal to me. This is obviously a developer that knows how to do these kinds of games, but cinematic trailer only? Yuck.

It's a sign of just how far the biz wonks at the megacorps have their heads up their asses that this is so mysterious to them. Maybe try making products that benefit their users rather than victimizing them, it's really not that mysterious.
