Nintendo goes after Switch emulator yuzu in new lawsuit
28 Feb 2024 at 9:45 am UTC Likes: 6

If I buy a game or any other product, it should be my business how and where I use it. Period. The same way if I buy a chair, the vendor can't dictate to me that it should only be used on certain parts of my house and not on others. If I buy a game, it's my business on what devices I play it. It could void the guarantee, I'm fine with it, but you can't tell me I can't use it how I want.

Nintendo is just another declining company. It sees it's business model and profits being threatened and so it does anything necessary to protect them. It will fail in the end.

Half-Life remake Black Mesa hits over 100,000 Steam reviews to Overwhelmingly Positive

I'm happy for them. Personally, I didn't like it. Maybe because I'm coming from a Quake background, but the hitscans on this mod are insane. Even worse than the original.

Quoting: anthI assume their position which causes false claims is their ties to Ukraine, or have they been involved in some scandal I've not noticed?
I was about to ask exactly the same thing. I have no idea what they are talking about.

Inspired by Doom and Deus Ex, Beyond Sunset enters Early Access

Quoting: JarmerI like that the reviews are talking about how it's more story and rpg heavy than just shooter. Looks interesting for sure. Wishlisted!
Yeah, it's like me programming and "hello world" in C and saying it was inspired by Linus Torvalds's development of Linux.

Anyway, I really wish the best luck to this gzdoom cyberpunk FPS.

Confidence born of ignorance. The cycle cannot be broken.

Quoting: JarmerFunny enough, it was Paradox's predatory scam dlc behavior
What what? Predatory how? A scam??

Paradox are one of the few publisher's with a well established, regular, value add DLC regime. They support their games YEARS after release. Stellaris, for example, released over 7 years ago, but some of the DLC modules released are just £9 yet add swathes of content.

I wish other publishers would take note instead of trying monetise micro-transactions.

I'll take properly thought out DLC any day over cosmetic shite, Battle passes and "Seasons".
Depends on the game. Remember their flagship, GalCiv? They are constantly remaking the same game, but releasing the next iteration with a skeleton of the features of the previous game and then releasing DLC after DLC to catch up feature wise with the last game. Don't pretend that it's not to earn more money.
That sounds like you're talking about Stardock, not Paradox.

I wouldn't exactly praise Paradox dlc, though. The most recent one for EU4 was a rework of a bunch of stuff from previous dlcs (so you're paying at least twice here), and 30 minutes of music tied into preorder-exclusive dlc for this dlc (yes, dlc for dlc). I'd rather have them work on EU4 for a good long time rather than release EU4-8 in that same timespan, sure, but there are issues with their business model (hard not to notice when they've gone public as a company, for one thing).
You are right. My mistake. I thought Paradox was still publishing Stardock's GalCiv, like they did in the past. Apparently no? Anyway, it's all the same. Paradox also releases cash grab DLCs.

Swords of Freeport is a text-mode social RPG like retro MUDs and BBS door games
7 Oct 2023 at 12:53 pm UTC

I wish this had a demo. I'm an old school gamer and I have absolutely no problems playing text based games (from muds to interactive fictions). But asking $15 to blindly buy a text based game without even knowing if the story and writing are good and the mechanics are well implemented is asking too much.

There are better alternatives for RPGs at that price that you actually know are good. Hell, Pillars of Eternity 2 is at that price on GOG at the moment.
