Last Epoch devs Eleventh Hour Games have been acquired by Krafton

Welp, this is quite something. Y'all should give a quick read to this ... ummmmm... "interesting" press release linked below. Last Epoch is so doomed. Utterly cooked. Sadness.

PR: https://press.krafton.com/KRAFTON-ACHIEVE-RECORD-HIGH-REVENUE-IN-THE-FIRST-HALF-OF-2025 [External Link]

Some of my lowlights:

"plans to deepen player engagement with high-profile collaborations, including France’s luxury carmaker Bugatti and global K-pop sensation aespa"

"5-year plan to build major global IP, the company has launched a pipeline of 13 new game projects"

"KRAFTON is also investing in AI innovation to shape the future of gaming."

"In April, the company acquired Neptune, strengthening its position in the global adtech space"

So let's see, let me see if I can summarize this:

1) nonsensical collabs with luxury cars ... for some reason?
2) 13 new games in 5 years. hello shovelware!
3) aggressively pursuing ai slop.
4) aims to strengthen advertising.

I can only guess that Eleventh Hour got a huge offer from Krafton, but it REALLY makes me so sad they took it.

This absolutely looks so cool! I have it on my wishlist and will wait patiently for it to release.

Sony sues Tencent over Light of Motiram calling it a "slavish clone" of the Horizon Zero Dawn series
29 Jul 2025 at 6:54 pm UTC Likes: 2

ehhhh, sorry @wolfgang but I disagree. This ABSOLUTELY is a direct copy/clone. I can look at some screenshots and videos and I don't think I could even tell you which game they came from. Even down to the stances the characters take during actions. It's blatant.

I don't think it'll matter in the end though, because yeah, Sony will win (as it should) but that won't mean shit in China so it'll keep selling there.

Atari set to acquire 82% of Thunderful Group AB, as Thunderful announce they're "restructuring"

Planet of Lana is really good if you're into that genre. And there's a second one on the way!

But yeah, I'm sorry to hear this as well. SteamWorld Dig 2 is one of my all time fav games. I REALLY wish we could get a dig 3. This kind of merging doesn't make it sound likely.

Also, wtf Atari, how are they coming up with all this cash?

Stardock Entertainment revealed Elemental: Reforged bringing together multiple games
29 Jul 2025 at 12:37 pm UTC Likes: 2

Hearing Stardock say that their past games were too simple and "pared down" is just scary .... !!! I have fond memories of Sins of a Solar Empire, but my god, those systems were DEEP. I can only imagine what the systems are like in their other games and if this is their "true vision" then yikes! I'll need to have a doctorate course lined up.

This was such depressing news to read. I REALLY love Last Epoch. I think it's the best in the genre right now. Have played through it SO many times over the years. Through EA, at release, after a bunch of patches, after a new season, etc. Every time I love it.

To see this news is just soooooooo disheartening.

Goodbye Last Epoch, you were amazing while you were with us. We will remember you fondly

Valve reveal new Steam store menu and enhanced search now in Beta
27 Jul 2025 at 4:48 pm UTC

hahah that's quite a wishlist you have there!!! 600+ games!!!

I almost never use that left or top bars for navigation in the store, so I guess I will barely even notice this change. I probably should try to dive into the categories and stuff like that more often though.

Fallout: Bakersfield looks like an awesome Doom total conversion with a new trailer

HOLY SHITBALLS that looks amazing. So are we to think those progress meters are correct? If so, then 2025 is no chance right? Most likely next year / maybe 27?

I LOVE a good gzdoom project maybe moreso than most aaa gaming LOL. My best friend and I will get a six pack of beer, plop down on the couch, kick the kids out (sorry, we're going to turn off Bluey, it's time for Daddy and Scorch to violently murder a bunch of pixelated baddies), and stay up way past my bedtime!!! We just take turns on death. It's so much fun! Of course it helps we grew up at JUST the right time for Doom1 / Doom2. I remember trying to figure out what programs I could delete off my mom's 486 running DOS, so that I could free up enough hdd space to have BOTH doom1 and doom2 installed so if my friends wanted to modem deathmatch I could be ready in a heartbeat (MOM! DONT ANSWER THE PHONE OH MY GOD)

ok, sorry, got carried away there. I love a good gzdoom project! And this looks so awesome.

Steam Beta upgrades the in-game performance monitor for Linux

This is great! I wonder if it'll fix the issue I have where the fps counter just randomly stops working entirely. I have to quit steam and restart it and it will come back.
